dwEEziL May 29, 2003 Share dwEEziL Member May 29, 2003 NewEgg.com has the 2500+ Barton for under $100 US. I plan to upgrade to this or the 2800+ Barton in a month or two. Also, they have the Epox mobo I bough for on $85 US
Slaphappy May 29, 2003 Share Slaphappy Member May 29, 2003 hey dweez how fast will our mobo support?
dwEEziL May 29, 2003 Share dwEEziL Member May 29, 2003 Our mobo will currently support the fastest Barton and will most likely be able to support the next generation of AMD processors that run at 400 MHz CPU frequency speed as long as AMD doesn't change the actual physicality of how it connects to the mobo. Guest zerodamage May 29, 2003 Share Guest zerodamage Guests May 29, 2003 Be careful dweez, in order for slap to use the 400 fsb cpu's, his mobo must have the new crush 18 northbridge. Use wcpuid and check. If it is A2, then he can not use them. If it is C1, then he is all good with just a bios update.
dwEEziL May 29, 2003 Share dwEEziL Member May 29, 2003 (edited) ZD, he ordered his mobo from the same place and as the same time as me. I am nearly positive he has the same revision of mobo as well...but just for verification, Slappy, run WCPUID and e-mail me a screenshot of the results and I will post it for you. Guest zerodamage May 31, 2003 Share Guest zerodamage Guests May 31, 2003 The price of the AMD's dropped also because the new P4's are out. The slower ones like 2.4 and 2.6 with Hypter Threading. There is even a mobo that supports it on Newegg, I think it is the abit one for 99 bucks. The prices are a little higher than the AMD's but with HT, the performance should be worth it... i wish i had the money now... i think i would upgrade to the HT p4's. NOFX June 1, 2003 Author Share NOFX Member June 1, 2003 are the hyper threading P4's the ones that run on the 800 bus? If so, they have been around for at least a month, month 1/2, maybe even two. Cuz I talked all killer into upgrading to that when we was checking it out a while back.
