Play Quake on Phone:

We have all seen phone apps with games and such that sort of look like real 3D, but ATI opened our eyes at CES. The pictures below show id's original Quake actually running in full OpenGL glory on a 240x320 screen that is perfect for mobile phone applications. The power behind the 3D engine is the ATI Imageon 2300, which is a hybrid of technologies that exist within ATI.

Hehe

ME too!

I want that with some quality AA and AF

:D

Thats gonna be cool as heck when we can play Quake 3 on a cell phone

The rail gun is gonna be a pain though.

Wonder if they will have some Ps2 ports or USB maybe so we can get some WSAD Keyboard action with an optical mouse

Im gonna give you a Computer hardware guy reply to that statement.

Yeah I wouldnt buy a phone right now man. The new ones coming out in the spring will be able to Run Doom 3 with all the quality settings unlike the current generation of phones.

Surely you can do without a good phone for 4 months right?

Its not like there are any games you would wanna play between now and then with all the settings cranked up. Just wait to get a new phone between now and then while i game all the day long on my phone that cant hardly run CS.

:P

Phones are gonna be all complicated when they get Windows 95 and 98 on them with BSOD.

ATI knows that OpenGL pwns that why they werent showing some crappy Direct 3d Game on their phone that pwns.

OpenGL is cool cause you aint gots to stick with microsoft operating systems.

Unlike Direct 3d that is exclusive to Microshaft.

HL 2 with be worth the pain of running a MS OS though.

that is if it every comes out and they wouldnt come up with lame excuses like a hacker broke it.

MORE INFO....

FROm Anandtech.com

"The ATI Imageon 2300 drives the 3D graphics acceleration on the cell phone platform pictured above, running MotoGP in OpenGL ES mode at around 25 fps. What is even more impressive is that the same hardware can run GLQuake I at around 35 - 40 fps; if you remember back to the days of GLQuake, 35 - 40 fps is about the speed that a Voodoo1 would have given you at 640x480.

The person delivering the Quake demo was held up in airport security and could not get the unit here in time for us to provide a picture for you all, but multiple ATI sources confirmed the impressiveness of the demo"
