All Kill3r February 8, 2004 Share All Kill3r Member February 8, 2004 In no particular order. 1-Asus P4P800 Deluxe 2-Asus P4C800 Deluxe 3-Abit IS7 4-Gigabyte 865PE I read through this thread again and have noticed no one mentioning dual channel. It pretty much doubles your ram bandwidth on intel setups so i would suggest getting 2x dimms, if you thinking of getting 512 now and a gig later maybe spend a little less on on mobo from the one you listed and go ahead and get 2x512. 2x256 OCZ PC3200 Mushkin Level 1 2x512 just more stuff to confuse ya really. You just gotta find the best combination of everything to get the price where you need it to be.

Theres 3 options or so i can tell. ? is will i go wrong with any of these 3 boards? Id like to not throw so much cash at 1 board and use it somewere else perhaps. More memory or something. Im narrowing it down now...your help is and has been very appreciated.
All Kill3r February 8, 2004 Share All Kill3r Member February 8, 2004 All three of those will run fine with no noticable performance difference. I pick that one though -> 865PE
Birdman February 8, 2004 Share Birdman Member February 8, 2004 All but the first seem a little expensive. Not heard any good reviews about any of those boards though so i cant tell you which is better of the 3.
wilco February 8, 2004 Author Share wilco Member February 8, 2004 Ok heres one more quick question and then maybe ill stop bothering you is there a huge difference between the 875 and the 865 chipsets?
All Kill3r February 8, 2004 Share All Kill3r Member February 8, 2004 (edited) nope. Benchmarks to prove. the benchmark results of our test field prove that, depending on the manufacturer, boards based on the Intel 865PE are just as fast as boards with the Intel 875P Edited February 8, 2004 by All Kill3r
Birdman February 8, 2004 Share Birdman Member February 8, 2004 Ive heard it depends on what mobo brand you are comparing. I know for MSI and ABIT there is no difference between the two(when comparing the performance oriented boards).

[Mmmm]Homer February 8, 2004 Share [Mmmm]Homer Member February 8, 2004 LOL toms hardware reviews, are you serious Oh yeah, Tom's posts misinformation. They don't know how to run a benchmark. They fake benchmarks. They are against the industry. They are in the pocket of the industry. Get a life.

Birdman February 9, 2004 Share Birdman Member February 9, 2004 This just in Birdman predicts the future. THe 2.8E Prescott p4 does pwn and works well on the ABIT AI7.... THe Asus boards dont work at all "Our Asus P4P800 and P4C800 motherboards would not operate with our 2.8GHz Prescott CPU." http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NTg3 And the tier 1 mobo makers faired well overall (MSI and ABIT) Need an oc?
