  1. I think that it might have been an issue with the sound card an xp64, because I can now turn on "ultra high" sound settings in bf2. When I would try to do that before it would CTD. It didn't crash on me once last night, which was a first. So, success...
  2. I just wiped and installed XP Pro. Forget that x64 nonsense. I haven't tried BF2 yet, so we'll see if it was worth it...I'll let you know!
  3. Thanks man. I had no idea, but I figured I was okay from the stuff I saw on the net...
  4. LOL. I know. They did the same for me...
  5. ...for my hard drive to format, what are good temps to run? My CPU and MOBO are usually 45-47. That's both while idle and when hard charging in games. My HD's never go over 30. Are these good temps? What are the ideal ranges for temperatures? (n00b, n00b, n00b...)
  6. They used to do referrals. If no one else wants it, I'll look into it and send you the info...
  7. This is actually my only issue. Other than that I have had no problems... But yes, this is a big enough pain in the butt to where I probably will just ditch it. Oh well...
  8. I'm just going to install it on a separate HD. I don't foresee any issues, but who knows...?
  9. Thanks guys. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes... Where do you enable/disable the page file?
  10. So, I have Windows XP 64-bit installed, and I only one issue, really. BF2 keeps crashing to desktop in-between rounds. I might be able to play 2 rounds in a row, but after that, BAM, straight to the desktop. I've tried everything else, from memory timings to file dumps, everything I could find on the net I tried. SO, I have a copy of XP Pro sittting around and I want to install it without wiping out everything else. My only question: Is it like having two completely different computers? If I boot from XP Pro will the desktop/my documents/program files all be the same as on x64, or will it all be new? Will I have to install BF2 in the new OS environment to play it?
  11. Congrats man. Good job! Sounds interesting. So, is that like putting aluminum foil and other non-food items in the microwave to see what EXPLODES?!
  12. Is this any different than usual? Where's "up north"? I was in Three Lakes a couple of weeks ago. My dad has a place on Long Lake...
  13. Do you surf too, or mainly mountain bike? Just reading all the names of those towns makes me think of surfing...
  14. Yeah, I miss it. I'd love to move back there someday. It's funny, my buddy and I used to go and burn 5000 calories doing some crazy 27 mile single track, then afterwards pig out at Sonic and ingest about 7000 calories worth of food...
  15. Happy Birthday guys!!
  16. Yes, so it seems. Maybe we should wait and try for the BF2142 in the fall, and for now just try to play on the same servers...
  17. I used to ride a lot of DH single track when I was living in Colorado Springs, but now that I am in the middle of the flatland I had to put some street slicks on it (got Schwalbe Big Apples - not bad, actually). I don't have a super fancy bike (Specialized Rockhopper), but I've customized it a bunch. I actually just put a new Shimano crankset on it last week. All we ride is the city, the lake shore trail, and in the forest preserves now. I haven't weighed it...I'm kinda curious now... I miss the DH in Colorado...

    Happy Birthday

    Happy Birthday man!!
  19. If you are looking at a good place to keep your savings, I suggest ING. Like you (Lunk) I do all my regular banking, car loan, etc. with a normal bank, but they can't offer the kind of savings return that ING can. Yeah, if want to get into investing then go to Vanguard - my 401k is through them - unless you like the do it yourself style. Then I would suggest Schwab. But for you everyday savings (quick cash - not long term) ING has an awesome rate with no fees. Money market accounts can be great, but they are subject to the performance of the market, don't always offer a steady rate, and are not insured by the FDIC. Not that Vanguard is about to go under, but still... I love ING. They email you when the rates change too.
