  1. Just tried, it. Can not get into server. The connection box comes up, moves 3 bars, then closes out. Not like anyone plays anymore =(
  2. So I'm done, took about 60 hours, which isn't bad. I did not rush my way to the end, spent some time doing missions and little side quests. After you beat the game more 'game' opens up to you. Personally I find this kind of dumb, you should be able to do/get everything by the time you go to finish the game, maybe I'm just old-school. Overall, a great game, I finally started to get a hang of the story by the very end of the game, then they started making it all confusing again. Oh well, I'll just play it again. I think I'm up to 65 hours or so now, finishing off the missions and getting the extra features/trophies. Has anyone else finished it yet? Comments? Oh, and the 'linear' part of the game finally "stops" when you reach ..... then it starts going between 'linear' and 'open' depending on what you want to do. I liked the game much more when it finally opened up, along with many of the other slight complaints that I had (money, leveling, etc.) Overall 8/10, the first 30 hours give you tunnel vision

    L4D2

Only posting here because most people aren't going to look in the L4D forum: 50% Off!! Didn't buy it originally because of the price and quick release after L4D. Looks like waiting paid off =) *** Offer ended sometime today (Thursday 3/25) ***
  5. Of course you have a 'path' that you have to follow or you can't progress, but you are IN A HALLWAY the for every step. You get open area's every once in a while, and either way the scenery is great. There is just no sense of the 'world'. You don't get into your first town until your about 14 hours in, and even then you take 5 minutes to run through it, and your only fighting. I've played almost every FF to the end, and this one (to me) seems very dumb down. Otherwise, Excellent game. Time to play more!
  6. I would assume this computer is more then a year old, and has probably never been cleaned out... If nothing has been changed internally or with software, I would say it's a heat issue. Open that bad boy up, get a can of air... or what I use, an air compressor, and blast it!
  7. These are my personal thoughts... Pros: Combat system, flawless, fun, challenging. Story, 15 hours in, pretty good, after 13 FF's you have to get a little creative. Graphics..... how do I put it... AMAZING, sound just as good. Cons: VERY LINEAR, my friend and I have decided that FF has started to try and become "streamlined". Compared to back in the day when all you would do is walk around on the work map and fight and level (those were the days), the game is very 'noobed' down. And also the fact that they made it for XBox tells you they are going for copies sold, and not hardcore fans happy. Overall: I am very pleased. As a long time fan of the series, I am dissapointed in the way they went about with the linear, no open world, no money... yes no money. I am 15 hours in and i have 3400 gil, and I have purchased nothing. Everything you get in the game is found in 'treasure boxes', and some few items are dropped by enemies. It is very different from the way FF was made back in the day. But with the story and AMAZING graphics I can kind of put the noobness behind me. I don't know what I would rate it considering I'm nowhere near the end of the game. I would give it a 7/10 right now, but only because of the fore mentioned 'noobness'.
  8. Easy fix.. Put mom's Win XP on the computer that doesn't like 7...
  9. Couple of things I can think of that 'could' be the problem. 1- Doesn't meet Win7 Requirements? Req. Which isn't much. 2- OEM parts on different OS's have issues. (Any of the parts being from an original OEM computere aka Dell, HP, Sony etc.) I have the same problem with my PC at work. It originally ran Win 2k, and they put XP on it. Well, it's a Dell Computer, that meets all of the requirements of XP, but because it didn't come with it and Dell doesn't have the XP drivers on their site some things don't work properly. (But I don't have a problem with Window's) I would say see if you can mix and match parts on your mom's computer that is working until you figure out which one it rejects.
  10. Uninstall drivers, run this My link, delete nvidia gfx folder in c: drive, restart, install new drivers.
  11. Did you uninstall the old drivers right and re-installed new ones for the new card?
  12. Don't know if you've "fixed" your issue yet, but was browsing my usual sites, and came across this: My link

  14. Not to totally change my own subject... But I actually ordered netfilx on Saturday.. 2 week free trial, and have the disk on the way, should be here Tuesday. Just wondering what people think about the service. I figured if I didn't like it I can always cancel it.. $10 isn't a huge deal to waste.
  15. There is not much too it. On the chip side, there should be like 10 or so screws that have a spring like washer under them. Take them all out, and the heatsink should come right off. You don't have to unplug any cables or anything else. ONLY REMOVE THE PASTE ON THE GPU. DO NOT REMOVE OR ADD PASTE TO ANYTHING ELSE. The GPU, incase you don't know, is the biggest chip on the card. Remove the basic paste, use a clean cloth a little rubbing alcohol if you want (I don't use it), and make sure its dry. Then lightly but a cover over the whole GPU. Start with an amount that you think won't even cover the chip, once you spread it there should be a paper thin cover of paste on the chip. If you don't quite get it all covered put on just a little more. Make sure the covering is even over the whole chip. Put back on the heatsink, screw it back together, and see if she works.
  16. Downloaded the Demo tonight... It's 2.5 gigs, and it is WELL WORTH IT. Check it out on PSN if you have not tried it yet!!!!
  17. As long as you are done before I wake up on Saturday.... Sure sounds awesome!!!
  18. The next thing you can do, is (if you are comfortable doing it) would be to remove your heatsink/fan and put new arctic silver on there. You may be lacking enough paste to connect the heatsink to the gpu, or just not enough at all to cover the gpu. If you know how to do it, and are "skilled" at it, I would do that first. If you aren't exactly the computer type. I would recommend at least getting RivaTuner and upping your fan speeds. That will help... some. Link below. If you need help figuring it out, let me know. I use it on my gpu's because they are factory overclocked, and the fans aren't good enough for all the heat they make. I put my fans between 50 and 60 at all times. I would suggest using at least 60. http://downloads.guru3d.com/RivaTuner-v2.09-download-163.html Edit: 95c to 80c... and that's just cleaning it out a little more!!
  19. If you are serious.. then that's why your fps is going ker-plunk. You are literally fry-ing your video card. I'm surprised your computer doesn't shut off after like 70c. Take it out, and make sure your heatsink is on properly, no gunk in the fan, and no gunk between the heatsink and the gpu.
  20. Check temps of CPU and GPU, maybe something is overheating (still even after cleanout). Do you have virus scan on auto start, or any other program maybe disk defrag or anything else running in the background. Link for program for heat issues. Start it before you play cs, then play until it acts up, then exit cs, and it will have a "max temp" that you hit while playing. http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
  21. Your running an 8800 and a 275 at the same time? Could be driver issue. What driver are you using? Are you using SLI connector or just have them both plugged in? Which slots are you using? 1 and 2 or 1 and 3. I have dual 8800's right now with latest driver, and see nothing with multi gpu physx setup... Are you using the NVidia control panel or a 3rd party EVGA/NVidia program. You have too many variables with not enough information.
  22. http://gizmodo.com/5240677/windows-7-rc1-will-auto-shut-down-every-two-hours-months-before-expiration Go an buy it! If you are still using it, you know it's worth every penny. If you didn't like it, you would be using XP right now.
  23. Unless you have a student account, price will not vary if at all... You can always get the OEM version, same thing, just no box, and no manual... but do you really need those? Ultimate has nothing better in it that you will use. I have Vista Ult on my laptop, I now know it was pretty much a waste.
  24. HD 280 Pros are what I have right now, and I've had a number of different ones in the past. Have awesome sound and power. Maybe now you can frag in CSS...
  25. Depends on if you want to overclock or not. If you are gonna overclock then get something fairly cheap, if you don't know how to or don't want to, get something a little more powerful. I upgraded from an e6600 to e8400 about a year ago, have it overclocked to 4gh, and have no problems at all. I'm sure an e8400 is much cheaper then a q9550 if you want to go that route. I am in a similar boat as you, in that I am itching to make a new computer, but there just isn't that much a technological bump if I were to go spend the money on it. I'm waiting at least another year, by then there will be a bunch of new hardware out.
