  1. lol... (throws rocks at Shoot as he runs away into his corner) Them are fighting words! Outside! One at a time... No! I'll take both of you at the same time. <shoves rock in demoner's ear???> <shoves bricked camera in laz's nose> Don't mess with shoot or be prepared to have your orifices violated.
  2. Don't get one yet... new one will come out in Sep or so. I haven't heard that rumor, yet. Can you link me? Also I need a laptop for work, now, and still like the air over the mbp. No specific news other than the new macbook rumor in Q3 2008. Most macbook life cycle is right under 200 days, so I'm assuming the new MBA is due soon, at least with a faster processor. As you know, I have the MBA and don't use the MBP as often anymore. It's very cool.

  4. You guys are mean... Why don't you guys just rip my head off while you're at it. I hate you all! (running away - crying inconsolably)
  5. I find it hard to believe that an admin banned him for suspicion of walling alone.
  6. Grow up guys! Man... Is this all you do in school? Do you have more?
  7. No.. We're the bestest. Except maybe Mav. Good luck and happy shooting. no pun intended.

  9. To answer your questions... Not because I'm a fanboy, but just to give you a different point of view. 1) Gotta pay for style, right? You would pay more for well designed product wouldn't you? I'm sure you wear name brand stuff that cost way more than your inner "thrifty" aidan will allow. I'm sure a square, ugly Mac can be made, but would you want that? Wait... Don't answer that. 2) As far as notebooks go... How do you really upgrade a Windows notebook, other than memory and HDD? (except the few notebooks that have upgradable video) Macbooks can be upgraded for memory and HDD. For the Desktops... You're right about the limited upgradeability when it comes to different components, but having to buy a computer more often because of this is not true. Most components that Apple use are top tier stuff so obsoleteness is less likely and this, partly, explains the higher price. 3) This is why Apple is able to churn out great products with high profit. Wouldn't you want that if it was your company? 4) Anybody can make software for OS X and it's not more expensive that Windows software. MS Office is about the same price for OS X and Windows, for example. And yes, Macs can run Windows and all it's softwares (hardware not limiting). Issue about not making it vice versa... Once again would you let this happen if it was your own company? I love numbers, I can't resist 1.) you have a point: if style is your thing, good for you. However, I think Macs look tacky as all get out, which just points out that everyone has different taste, and that's a good thing 2.) also a good point, but I don't need a screw-driver to pop out my battery and put my spare in on my windows laptop either. Also, Mac uses very similar components to that which you'd find in a top-o-the-line PC..in fact, they use mostly the SAME components (i.e. Core 2 Duo). But since Mac is so proprietary, they tend to NOT have some of the high-end things PC's have. Generally, when a brand new graphics card comes out (back when the 8800 GTX launched, for instance) Mac drivers don't exist for it so Macs don't come with them. In other words, it's a common misconceptions that Macs come with higher-end hardware, because they don't. Sometimes, however, Windows based laptops can cost even more than high-end Macs (such as Alienware and Voodoo PC) so you're not ALWAYS paying more for the Mac 3.) Monopoly's are illegal...just because you don't have enough of the market-share to be considered one doesn't mean you should TRY to be one either. Macs are overpriced because of this very reason. 4.) Um...I'm fine with 4 really. Oh, and on my fanboy rant...again, I wasn't saying one fanboy was worse than another--my point was that ALL fanboys can be bad..... and quit reading my mind with the 10' pole thing....lol Can't help it either... 1) It's like clothing... you wear what you wear because it looks good to you. They're selling like hot cakes so many people must like the "Apple style" 2) If you look at the PC market as a whole, Mac tend to be in the upper tier when it comes to components and technology (processor - usually Apple is the first ones to get the newest Intel). All Macs were C2D when the C2Ds started with PCs. I'm sure this is not the case with "every" new tech, but the pattern is there. 3) How is this Monopoly? It's just a different variant of a technology and not the technology itself. Are you telling me that Apple is the only technology for computing? This is not monopoly. About Apple being over-priced: Something can not be "overpriced" and sell well. If it sells well and can not keep in stock, then it's priced right. People must think it's reasonably priced for it to sell all they can make. When did you ever see Macs go on sale? What you're willing to pay is far different than what it's market value is. Market value = what people are willing to pay for at any given moment. Mac sales growth 4) I'm fine that you're fine...
  10. You missed the most important comment Maverick... Personal preference. I use both PC and Mac. Rather not live without one or the other. btw about the 10' pole - Couldn't help but feel a tingling on the back of my head and I saw - 10'pole. Quit the witchcraft!
  11. Agreed. Womans work is best done by women. Shaftiel P.S. God I hope my wife never reads this.... Agreed x3... Get married and all your laundry problems will go away. If it doesn't work in the beginning just add bleach to dark cloth and burn a couple of holes in her blouse or something. Then it's downhill from there. btw... What's your wife's email Shaftiel?
  12. dweezil? this has your name all over it. shoot, I can pencil you in for a Thursday night in 3 weeks. Does that work? After that, I'm booked through summer. Hmm... how does no sound

You're so right about this... If you use an alternative energy, it has to come from somewhere. Electricity = coal, gas (hydro and windmills too, but it's mostly coal and gas power). Hybrids = batteries to store electricity (where are we going to dump all those batteries when they need to be replaced? Hydrogen = how do we make it? same thing as electricity, it needs other means of power to process. Nothing is for free = something else has to give. There's no single cure for this energy crisis. Sad.
  15. This is really funny... we must have been typing the thread at the same time. 10' pole ftw!
  16. Funny... I usually experience the opposite of what you said. "Non-Apple" people talk about Apple products as something that should not be touched with a 10' pole and they don't even know what it's all about. I agree with you about being open minded, and this is precisely the opposite for many non-Apple folks. As for me, I try them all and give you an honest opinion about the products. For example, I have all 3 game consoles (PS3, 360, and Wii) and I enjoy them all. I must admit that the Wii is the console that gets played the most in our household because - everybody- plays it, even my mom(62) - try to have a 60 year old play the PS3 or the 360. I personally enjoy playing PS3. My kids love the 360. Go figure... There are plus and minuses for everything. As far as Macs go... We have 3 PCs and 5 Macs at home. My wife prefers using the mac because it's the simplest to use for her, not because it's better than Windows, but for her it's usually a 15 minute session and when she opens her macbook or the macbook pro, it's on instantly and doesn't have to wait for it to boot. Most Windows notebooks fail miserably when it tries to wake up after sleep mode (waking from hibernation works better but takes more time to restore). I've had dozens of PC notebooks and none of them worked well after sleep mode (sometimes it works, but like Murphy's law... never woks when you really need it fast). This problem has gotten better with Vista as I've tried 2 Vista notebooks recently - it seems like it's more of a hardware compatibility issue between the manufacturers and Windows. For other applications, for me, Windows shine above the mac... GAMES! So, here's my 2 pennies about what's been said in this thread... Just don't trash something without knowing the other(well) and just because someone endorses something, it doesn't mean that they are fanboys. They might be just pointing out the benefits of a product. Let them have it if they are bashing the other stuff, but be cool with them if they are just talking about it constructively.
  17. Why compare the two? One's a Windows machine and the other OS X.

if i need to drive > 120 miles in a day, hour car or daily car rentals aren't a bad option. If I hit the Aptera with my Denali, I would drag the darn thing for miles before I knew what I hit. maybe, you shouldn't drive with your eyes closed? Can't help it... I'm Asian.
  19. dude, read the rules. that's not how we play around here. you're only allowed to critique WITHOUT experience, not in lieu of. sorry anonymo, you can continue now. Sorry... ok, I don't have a Macbook Air and I don't use my hands

don't prius get better gas mileage in city driving anyways? Right... It does about 10% better in city driving due to electric only mode when you baby the gas pedal. 2010 Prius is supposed to have a new front end design but the rear end will be almost the same as now. The big news is that it's supposed to have a brand new battery technology instead of the Li-ion that's supposed to be lighter and smaller. Joke aside... I think the Prius are the best hybrid for now.

  24. If you're going to own one camera... I definitely recommend a pocket camera. A camera is worthless unless you can (or willing to) carry around. I have the Canon SD750 and it's awesome. 3" lcd and the flash charges are very fast. I think they go for $190 or so now (it was $300). I highly recommend. Costco SD750
  25. I have a rule about giving money to strangers - I don't... unless they are handicapped or really old and unable to work. Emphasis on "unable to work".
