Ok, I ordered the Mobo & CPU that homer suggested in one of the other threads. Now I would like to know if you guys have any good reference material for when it comes time to actually put this machine together. Maybe a step by step process on where to begin and what to do first. This is my first pc I've built and would like to have things go as smooth as possible. Any info is appreciated.

So what took a dump on you? Mobo or NIC card?

Let me just re-iterate the above. And add once again. Quantum has played on the server enough to know the rules. This was not his first time being told to watch the language. And one other thing. Thanks m0m. I guess in the future I will have to say "Watch the Language Please". Quantum took offense to me saying "Watch the Language" And that's all I said. It wasn't said in a mean way. He took it as disrespect. Then he wouldn't let it go. Then someone banned him. As I told inferno, I was not the one to ban him. Last thing, Quantum has played several times on Trop and should have an idea of the rules. One more thing. Inferno, I understand you don't like the filter on our server. But, it's our server and that's the way we have it setup. There is no need for you to make comments like "filter is ghey". So, in the future, I ask that EVERYONE check their attitudes at the door. Because it's getting old and disrupting game play. Thank you.

Actually Seifer, this is where your supposed to come to defend yourself. We like to keep these types of disputes out of the game. Because it tends to bog down game play. And you seemed to have handled it well. Don't run off because of one small speed bump in the road.

I wasn't thinking about buying one. I'm building my own. Because I can do it alot cheaper. I was just curious if anyone had seen one yet. I agree they are overpriced.

Just got a brochure in the mail yesterday for the new Dell XPS Gaming Machine. Have any of you guys seen it yet? Looked like the low end model was $1999.00. And the power supply is built into it's own seperate compartment to help cut down on heat.

If I remember correctly. Sierra evened the game out for peeps who didn't have blazing fast machines. It actually gives the edge to peeps with low fps & high ping. I'll have to see if I can find the article.

Let me just add something to this. As I've got tons of experience with Cat5 Cabling. Make sure you are using a good Crimp tool. You want the heavy metal one that has interchangeable heads for different types of plugs. Good crimp tool makes all the difference in the world when making your own cables. Fortunately, I've been in the Telephone business for 15+ years and have the proper stuff.

Which setup are you running Mag? P4 or AMD?

Homer, I assume you got those pics & prices from newegg. Is that mobo a decent board? I'm in the process of building a pc. And I want to build a decent one mainly for cs. At the same time, I would like to do it with the least amount of cost. I've already talked to MrX and got his ideas. And he really likes the idea of building one with the RDRAM. I like it too. Because I already have a Dell with the RDRAM. But, it also costs quite a bit more to go that route. I like the idea of getting a mobo and cpu for less then $100. Let me know. Thanks.

Exactly. There is nothing cheap about RDRAM. It originally had 128mb when I bought the machine. So, it's using the Dell RDRAM. Then I added 128 PNY RDRAM. And I've had no troubles with it. Chances are I will buy more of the PNY RDRAM.

Occasionally I have to toss you a bone Mag. Otherwise, this would be a one-sided battle.

I'm looking into that also Dweez. I order the TI4200 64mb card yesterday. And I'm looking around for the best price on RDRAM. I agree that it would be a big help in playing CS.
