  1. I've noticed this on recrud before where it's like I suddenly got a speed burst for several seconds, then my speed goes to normal. It's the weirdest thing I've seen in the game and is really strange. It only happens when I'm running, not when I"m walking, and it seems totally random, but suddenly I'm going faster than everyone else.
  2. Personally I"m against this. The only problem that ever keeps me from rushing the bombsite is the people that stop in my way. If you run the whole way with your knife out you can almost always beat the flashes.
  3. Things that make you go 'buh' Oh and I give her a 1.25399284823948783 since I haven't seen her on cs:s lately
  4. I'd be interested in only allowing the scout (of the scoped weapons). I think it'd be interesting to have your snipers limited to that gun. I just wish valve would put back in the option to buy single clips of ammo. I hate buying a full load of pistol ammo when I just want an extra 12 shots!!!
  5. Yeah i played with them a bit on CS:S and my fps was down. They just didn't seem to perform as good as other. Do you know where I can get the 67.03 ? Currently I have the released 66.93 off nVidia's website. They work fairly decent with my eVGA GeForce 6800gt 256 mb, but I'm still not getting great performance.
  6. Aweosme map. We just played it on the server. The layout is slightly different than the cs 1.6 nuke, but not anyhthign that hurts the play. It also has an added bonus for the CTs. The only problem I saw was that the main rock the T's go around as they rush the front side often turns pure black if you're in free move with the camera. I found this while I was dead one round. Unfortunately I don't have a pic. Overall a very good map I think and a lot of fun.
  7. I just asked Bean in game if we could check it out in a bit.
  8. I really liked it. The sewers give some new routes for the cts and make it less lopsided than the old assault. Seems to be a much better balanced map, though it is still T sided. My only real complaint is the ladders are just a little high, you have to jump to get on them, but that's ok. Just takes a little skill
  9. If you have the nvidia logo by your clock you can just right click on that and go to perfomance I think.
  10. Ok, so I finally got cS:S downloaded, after several attempts and messages from steam that the servers were overloaded I ran the video strees test and got 77.18 fps. (Not bad, but you want to note that not everything was rendered greatly. I had these settings on. BTW, these are what was recommended for my system, so I didn't really play with them yet. I.E. these are stock settings. Model Detail - medium Antialiasing - none Texture detail - medium Filtering mode - Bilinear Water detail - Simple Reflections shader detail - high shadow detail - low wait for V sync - disabled console option -dxlevel 81 You can force a difference direct x level by entering a different number 81 = dx8.1, 90 = dx9.0, etc... There's a tweaking post stucked in the CS:S forum that describes this in more detail I also jumped on the server when it was on aztec. For the most part my fps wasn't great, usually in the high teens to low 20's. Course aztec is one of the bigger maps so I didn't expect it to be all that great. I would think that laptop should be fine.
  11. Oh hey m2. Whatever laptop you get, I recommend you go into the bios and set the Fan to always on when under AC Power. This will make a BIG difference when playing games, if you don't your laptop will get much hotter faster. I did this on my evo back under cs 1.6 and it made a big difference.
  12. ah ok Won't do me much good since I finished college and no longer live on a lan
  13. Glad to help. Just a thought, but with all of the people out there tweaking their game and what not. I wonder how many of them actually back the orig file up? I know I never did. It might be nice to have a config.cfg file backed up on a website for those who like to tweak their game to have in case they need to reset, as you did. I'm fine with leaving this file on my website, not like it takes up much space, if maybe there was a link on the forums or something to it. P.S. I updated the file to not have the "name" cvar set. This way it won't change your name from what it was. P.S. Jon, you may want to check your name in game.
  14. You know what, I think I might just mess around with cs source on my lappy to see how my vid card handles it. It'll be a little bit for the download to go through, but I'll post how it goes, and I'll try to remember to do the video stress test and see what that gets. I'll post the results here. Also I think the Evo is their business line laptop, so you might have to look under that section to find it, or they could've renamed it Compaq, I know the HP rep to my college said they were going to do that at some point. Since HP bought compaq a few years ago.
  15. Actually, I used to play cs 1.6 on it, but I haven't tried source yet. I'm playing on my new desktop that was built with HL2 in mind. I've been meaning to check it out, and to get SP2 installed on the lappy, but have been kind of lagging behind on that computer. One thing I'd really really really suggest, make sure you get the Fastest speed Hard drive you can. 4200 rpm really gets annoying!! It won't hurt gameplay, but it will be slower running programs and loading them, kind just that pet pieve annoyance level, but you'll wish you upgraded if you don't get it. Hm, strange, I was looking at the specs, and it says 5400 rpm on one page, then 4200 on another. You might want to call them to ask what the right one is. Otherwise that looks pretty good. I'd suggest going for the x800 video card, it'll cost you more but you might want to go for the best graphics. I'm also a very big DELL fan, but I unfortunately don't know much about their laptops, never really had a chance to check them out. I haven't heard anything bad, and I've always had good experience with Dell PC's and their customer support.
  16. Any idea when this might be tested on the server, I'd really like to check it out with a bunch of people on.
  17. The HP-Compaq EVO line are pretty sweet, just make sure you get a gaming video card and not a "business or architectual" video card. I'm not real sure of the cost of these, but you can bet they aren't the cheapest since you're paying for performance! I got it as part of my colleges laptop program (required for all students), and I love this thing. Specifically I have a: Evo n800c 40 GB hd 15 inch TFT LCD (very good picture and haven't noticed ghosting really) 128 mb mobility Radeon 7500 1.6 GHz P 4 512 mb DDR Ram (would recommend 1 GB, if it doesn't cost much) Winxp Pro BTW this model is 2 years old so they've probably gotten somewhat better by now.
  18. Out of curiosity, what does one of those cost?? I use an ergonomic keyboard and 5 button mouse for cs. But my desk is kind of cluttered when I play cs, I wouldn't mind something that gave me more room for my mouse.
  19. It's nice to to have that, I agree, but since I put all my cd's in a wallet for listening in the car I don't really have much use for those. So downloading them and not having the empty case laying around is a plus. myTunes?
  20. Whoa, looks pretty good. I can't wait to try it out! I like some of the subtle changes he did too.
  21. Yeah, by execing the config it changes those values, the only way they wouldn't change is if your config.cfg (the orig file) was read only. That would prevent the game from saving the changes to the file, but would still have them for in game each time your tweak file was exec'd. You're in luck though. I just reinstalled source, and made a backup copy of my orig config.cfg for exactly the same reasons. I"ve uploaded it to my personal web page as a zip. Feel free to grab it. I would suggest though that you edit this file, or just copy and paste what you need into a seperate file. If you already have your controls setup, and you don't use the exact same ones as the default then you'll definately want to do this. You could just delete all of the "bind x yyyyyy" lines. Those are what setup your controls. Then you could just put this edited file in the same directory as call it something like "default.cfg" and just exec that once, but make sure your config.cfg is NOT read only when you do this. Anyways, here's the link. http://people.msoe.edu/~bergek/upload/Default_CS_config.cfg Let me know if you have any problems.
  22. Thanks! I'll check it out tomorrow
  23. Not to sound dumb or anything, but did you reset the consol tweaks to what they were before? Just removing a .cfg file won't restore them, unless they're ones that get set every time the game loads.
  24. iTunes is by far the best for getting songs. Only 99 cents per song and they have a very big library. They're always getting more songs too. The best deal though is that you can by most CD's (I mean the ENTIRE cd) for only $9.99!! I've bought a few CD's on here for this, then you just burn them to a cd. The only real complaint I have is that the songs download in a protected format, and I haven't found anything that converts to mp3 There is a way around this though, just burn the songs to a cd, then rip them with any otherprogram. Probably can use a cd-rw I would bet.
