  1. I know only one true hacker and he is a gifted genious that we are lucky works for the govt and not spider.de lol. Most of the "hackers" (self-proclaimed) that I've talked to are actually "script downloaders" some even claim to write other people's stuff just to get respect. I guess it falls in line with the guy who says that we hack("I went 185-3 last night" so you must be a haxor") because he's used to playing on noob servers and can't stand the heat of us folks with too much time on our hands to do anything other than play CS and forum hop .
  2. Also you need duel channel Ram for optimum usage. The Ram you have will probably only function as single sticks not in duel mode.
  3. the volume isn't all the way down is it? I know it's a lame thing to ask but then again read the I can't stand this anymore section lol
  4. I also love it when they call everything a virus and you look and they deleted something like the internet explorer folder. Or you go to fix thier PC and they try to tell you they have been hacked ( like anyone cares enough to hack a 77 year old ladies PC to read recipies or look at pics of her grandkids) Then you say well looks like you changed the settings on"...." and you get "I never did that!" So the mysterious hacker just went in and adjusted the printer settings on the PC or added 47 of the same printer when it didn't work the previous 46 times. Just goes to show you that for the most part there are people who know and people that annoy the people who know
  5. My CPU runs around 35-39 idle and 45-49 under load My system is usually 10 degrees lower My 9600XT runs around 55 but has been up to 70 when I play an intense game when it's warm in the house.
  6. I get "Hey Dave wanna come over for dinner?" So then we eat and then I get "Hey while you're here my pc is...." Morons think they are so slick but it's just another exampley of the L user error in action.
  7. yeah you guys are amazing with your telepathic repair jobs
  8. charge hourly and add 5% to the hardware costs. That's pretty standard. I charge $35 an hour but I'm really cheap - most shops charge around $50 when you bring it to them and the lowest mobile cost I've seen is around $75 per hour. If you need all these to pring, I would make sure they either have a printer that is set-up to run from a network router or a router with a printer port onboard. I can help you find a good deal on hardware if you need it.
  9. I came across this http://www.pcdirect.com//product.asp?Sku=M...romo=pricewatch Only $139 after the $30 mail in rebate for a new 15" monitor.

  11. My motto - if it aint broke don't fix it- with the exception of vid card drivers. My netgear wireless router is flawless and I'll leave the filmware alone unless I have trouble later
  12. my digi camera is out in the car and I'm too lazy to go get it, but the fan gets bolted to the two opposit corners to the steel and you need two longer screws for the other two corners - or you can put the filters on the inside of the fans like I have so that it is easier to clean periodically. If you do it this way you just install the fan like normal and then you will need two fan screws for the filter as well. Make sure you put the filters on the INTAKE fans not the out flow or it's pointless lol
  13. For a cheap PCI Express card, I'ld get this one For a high performance AGP Card on a budget I'ld get this one Newegg refurbs come with the full manufacturer warranty but only have a doa warranty through Newegg. I have bought 6 video cards that were refurbs and all have been problem free. I have also bought CPUs, hard drives and motherboards and only had one bad hard drive and they sent me a new one with no problems. I highly recomment them.
  14. Well I'm just completely confused by all of this, but this morning I booted up my PC and the fans are all reading correctly again. I guess I should be happy, but it is just so strange that it was happening in the first place. Oh well thanks for all the attempts
  15. OUTLOOK? Are you insane lol. Every Virus author out there targets outlook as a mode of transferance. Use a third party one like mozilla. Also if Norton detected it, it was probably deleted on your reboot so I would rerun Norton and if it doesn't come up againg just breath a sigh of relief. If it does scrub the system and reimage. Disclaimer: Following my advice may result in your head blowing clean off!
  16. OK just tried new fan and it too is reading at half the speed it's actually going, so it is definately not the fans. The motherboard did read all fans correctly prior to overclocking. When I set the over clocking it immediately read the fan speeds wrong. And When I reset it back to standard the malfunctioning reading remained. I THEN upgraded the bios, so it read properly in bios version 1009 and when I tried all the setting adjustments possible with no luck, I upgraded the bios. This did absolutely nothing (positive or negative) The only problem is the readout, not the actual fan speed. All the fans are directly connected to the MB I don't have a fan controler. Anyway that is where I am at Thanks for putting those brains to work on my behalf
  17. The one fan has a knob all others are set at nominal speeds. I do not think this is a problem with the fans speed, its a problem with the reading of the speeds. Actual fan speed is like 5500rpm and it's reading at 2750rpm. When this fan runs at it's lowest speed, 2200rpm, it is completely silent so I know it's the reading and not the actual fan speed.
  18. Well I did that prior to posting here and found nothing. I emailed Asus customer tech support but havent heard back yet
  19. Well my only concern is that what if the fans do begin to fail. I want to be alerted to it, and also the error on boot up stating that the CPU fan is failing.
  20. 1. no mainly because I'm able to do it myself 2. $10 monthly would be very reasonable via the web, but if you actually came to my place it could be marketed at $20 or maybe slightly more 3. 31
  21. I tried setting to defaults in bios, tried uninstalling/reinstall of asus probe, tried updating to beta bios drivers, tried fiddling with all the different settings with the "cool n quiet" features (then turned em back off cuz I never used em before anyway) then I tried asking here lol This isn't really a scary issue because like I said the temp is still at a very good range and the fans are running at full speed ( I have a manual knob for one and you can hear when it is at 5000+ speeds and it is still reading 2500). This is where I'm at
