  1. Yesturday I went into the bios set-up and changed it to adaptive overclocking 3% when I rebooted it said my cpu fan failed. I opened my case and it was running fine (only runs at one speed 2000rpm) so I rebooted again with same error coming up. When windows had fully booted I checked my speeds using Asus program PC Probe and it is reading my cpu fan as running at 852rpm, my chassis fan at 800rpm and my power fan at 2500rpm. The problem is that my chassis fan is running at 1500rpm, my power fan(actually another chassis fan) is running at 5500rpm and my cpu fan is at around 2000rpm. Anyone have any clue why these would be read at half of what they really are? I just reflashed my bios with the Beta bios hoping to fix the issue but that didn't work (no benifits or new problems) My system is running at CPU Temp-32 degrees C and MB Temp 20 degrees C Onboard sound, promise, sata disabled - cool&quiet feature disabled- instant music disabled (these were done when I first set it up and I haven't made any changes here) My system: Soyo Dragon Case w/450watt PS Asus A8V Deluxe Mainboard bios version 1011.005 AMD 64 3400+ 939 CPU ATI 9600XT 256mb Audigy 2 Platinum WD 120gb 7200rpm IDE hdd Sony DVD+/- RW AOpen dvd/cdrw Any help would be appriciated

  6. I'm a fat guy so I do pretty good all winter long in my insulated suit, what I hate is the heat. At about 89 degrees I begin to create my own tropical eco system in my pants, so I'll stick to enjoying wionter lol
  7. Cranky with a voice of reason in a sea of malcontent lol

  9. make sure that there are periodic power outages and the system is unstable and requires reboot after every 10 min of usage lol
  10. I like how he thinks, but I think the butter knife should be dull rusty and made very cheaply so just when hope is there it breaks
  11. they should all be sentenced to working as research subjects for new aids meds.
  12. I had a similar deal with my aopen cdrw/dvd drive and when I went with my Sony DVD-RW drive it installed without a hitch. This was not HL2 but another program so see what a new cdrom drive does and let us know
  13. nothing kills installs and uninstalls quite as bad as an infected system. I hope all goes smoothly
  14. Interesting, but it's a conspiracy by the Evil Empire to steal our bandwidth!! I won't be fooled by this obvious attempt of Bill Gates to take it away from me. They used to call me paranoid and now they want to lock me up, but the people wearing Rams baseball caps are spies sent by Gates to make sure we have legally registered our Windows and are still letting him have our bandwidth. Don't be fooled by Strangefamous' claim, he too is part of this evil plot. rofl
  15. I do the same thing, makes it 100 times easier than trying to install it in the case.
  16. I wouldn't stress about it unless you do a lot of plugging in/unplugging hardware (cards, RAM, IDE cables ect) I have 12 on my MB and have only 9 used but I would be comfortable with fewer if left without a choice. If you have an extractor set try that but I would never risk damage to do this. If you cannot safely remove the motherboard first leave it be. (my opinion may be flawed or even disasterous so follow at own risk )
  17. I laughed pretty hard writing it too lol
  18. I use old tower speakers from a Soundesign stereo I had in 1984 (they're blown but I think they are still L337. I have a string tied to a pair of worn out earmuffs that I use for a headset and they are the bomb diggity. As far as a mic goes the sound card on my 286 PC wouldnt support the duel plugs from my tape recorder so I have a megaphone aimed at my screen on the open window above my computer. If you need any advice on setting yourself up like me let me know and we'll go garage saling together and get ya hooked up.
  19. Well I guess the ones I'm using aren't in the same league but for incredibly high quality sound for a budget of around $20 (People with families) I would suggest these http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=AA20700 Anyway they in no way compete with the Senns but they blow away anything in the same price range.
  20. First off make sure you have windows latest updates then if that doesn't work uninstall whatever cheap A/V software and reboot. If that doesn't fix anything then you may want to run adawareSE and Spybot Search and Destroy. These will probably not fix anything with your OS but it might.
