  1. being a product of the 80's i just thought i'd mention how much i love 80's music. i like older stuff too...a local radio station plays 80's music on firday nights...i love to blast it and sing...makes people stare... lol, ever heard the song, "i'm on a mexican radio" by wall of voodoo? that song is awsome!
  2. http://www.supersizeme.com/ Just saw this film and it was really well done. If you ever wondered why you were a few pounds overweight, look no further.
  3. My mother is a video manager at Schnucks so we get alot of screeners to view. Anyway, I never really picked this one up cause it just didn't look that good...but my roommate and I were bored last night so we watched it. Overall...I'd hafta give this movie a 9/10...that's a fairly high score considering I expected nothing from it and it really doesn't have a ton of high reviews out there. This movie stars Micheal Douglas, his son Kirk Douglas and Kirks son Cameron Douglas. It's mainly a movie about family. I can't really describe the plot of the movie apart from it's just about struggles a family goes through. The thing that stood out amazingly well in this movie is that it's not so much about having a plot as it is about having characters. Pretty much everything these guys did in this movie just felt...real...and unlike most films...the problems aren't always resolved...because like I said...the story seemed more about showing real characters than just showing the typical movie characters with the answer to every situation. This movie isn't for everyone...but I found it very entertaining and if you're looking for a movie you've probably never seen that will entertain you...I recomend this one pretty highly. The funny thing is...that most of the reviews I've read for this movie call all the things I enjoyed about the movie it's "weaknesses". But any time something different comes from Hollywood I feel like I must applaud it.
  4. Went to see this last night. It has ha a lot of build-up for us over the last couple months. People have said it is a vengeance movie done the way it should be; that is puts The Punisher to shame; the Denzel is amazing in it; etc.... Well we get all set and the movie starts off. It is a bit slow at the beginning then in the middle it really picks up nicely and there are some really cool things Denzel does in his rampage of retribution. Then the end scenes come along and leave you feeling kinda dejected by the time the credits flow across the screen. Neither of us were very impressed with the movie except for the middle 30-40 minutes. Other than that it was a waster of our $6.50. We gave it a 72/100
  5. I got this yesterday and watched it. It is new on DVD and I had never heard of this movie before. It was very entertaining. It is based on a group of grifters in Vegas and their main guy is a card mechanic. The stuff he can do is unreal. I think I liked it a lot because I love poker and gambling and that is the main focus of the movie. After the movie watch the additional stuff where they show how the card tricks were done and how to do a couple of them, it was neat to see they did not use camera "magic" to do the card scenes. 80/100
  6. A new fantasy triology that a 20 year old has been writing. Its pretty good and they are making a movie based of it. http://movies.go.com/movies/E/eragon_2005/index.html If you enjoy LOTR and HP its much darker but very interesting.
  7. i have been listening to Dave Matthews "Some Devil" album. actually i think it is one of his better ones. he put alot of live songs on it. "Stay or Leave" is one of the best. always fun to talk to people who have teh same musical tastes as me...anyone? lets talk about our favorite bands.

    "Tears of the Sun"

I saw the movie last night. One of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I have to say that the movie is gloomy and you will leave with a straight face, if not feeling a little disturbed. It shows us what an ethnic cleansing is like as much as hollywood could without grossing everyone out. It is disturbing and I recommend you not take any female to this movie. The movie did have a positive ending and an underlying political message. I am wondering if you see this movie you tell me what you thought that message was. I percieved it as pro-American. ***** This movie gets 5 stars from me. Bruce Willis kicks donkey.

    Easy Listening --

Well, I suppose every era and generation of past has had its differences in music. In the 80s, we had hair bands, pop bands, boy bands, and some good stuff like Joshua Tree or Tears for Fears -- today we have a lot more of a variety in music, from punk to numetal to pop to metal to electronica etc. The music I am growing the most fond of, is well -- softer music, ambient songs and bands that are nice on the ears. I wanted some suggestions from you guys of your favorite softer bands. Not just pop, even if it has no vocabls, just good instrumental/soft vocal/ambient music you guys listen to once in a while. Here's what I've been listenin' to: Frou Frou Mum Explosions in the Sky American Football Spoon Sunny Day Real Estate Scores from movies (Martrix, Royal Tenebaums etc.) Also, what's some good smooth jazz that's good on the ears? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
  10. Okay go here http://troymovie.warnerbros.com/ and click on the teaser trailer. After Brad points his sword and you see the first ships, look at the ship on the left towards the back...at it's sail. The old rivalry between UT and A&M, Bevo's horns are sawed off!

    Shrek 2

First of all, I realy enjoyed the first one, it was about an 8.7/10 for me. It had a lot of great "inside" jokes that yougner kids didn't get that were really funny. "I think he's over compensating for something" - all the kids think of his height, while everyone a bit older thinks of a certain organ... stuff like that, this one just didn't have. To me, it seemd a lot more geared towards younger kdis, and just wasn't as funny... maybe it was doomed before it started with being a sequel and all. 5.8/10.
  13. I watched it yesterday in theatres. I enjoyed it, anyone else see it?
  14. golly gee! i just saw it ... and lemme tell ya. it was funnier than heck.
  15. anyone seen it? watch and I watched it tonight....very touching movie...i highly suggest it
  16. Ok Im going with Fantasia and Degarmo! anyone else watch this contest? if I have to pick who goes its Amy!!! BORING! bottom 3 red headed nerd leaha amy Amy Goes!!!
  17. Well we went to see this last night. We really wanted to see Troy but it had already started and it was 9:40pm, kinda late to see a 3 hour flick. This movie pretty much sucks. We would have been better off renting old school and watching it since I still laugh hard through most of that movie. The basis, if you do not know, is that Jack Black strike it rich and Ben, his best friend, was too stingy to invest so he is still poor. Jack remains right across the street from Ben and it grates on Stiller's every nerve that he is still poor while he has to stare at this rich guy every day. So iinstead of talking about it there are a number of things that happen that just make you say...why? Then you start wondering why did they even make this movie? Why did it not go direct to DVD? Why would anyone want this movie on their resume? etc...... Anyways, I think I got my point across, the movie stinks....a lot. We gave it a 40/100. P.S. Christopher Walken is in the movie and has more funny parts then the other two combined.
  18. here ya go and um...I gotta agree with the cops in this image:
  19. just saw this movie... I gotta say...I REALLY enjoyed it...it's a romance movie but it's a pretty unique one in that it follows about 10 couples in very different circumstances... I will warn though there is some nudity because one of the couples fill in for porn stars so the sets can be properly set up...rather odd actually...
  20. Tekken 5 is coming! You thought the death of Lui Kang in the Mortal Kombat series was a huge blow... Guess whose dead here... http://www.tekken-official.jp/tekken5/index_e.html I love tekken...I cant wait
  21. I'm sitting here programming away listening to the Braveheart soundtrack...I haven't even seen this movie in about 2 years...but this music STILL affects me...and it got me to thinking...what do you guys consider the best epic films out there? and what would you consider the best epic music even if the film doesn't quite fit the "epic" title... I'd hafta say for me the top 5 films are: 1) Braveheart without a doubt 2) Lord of the Rings trilogy 3) Glory 4) (I'm hoping to put "Troy" in this spot) 5) Forrest Gump (doesn't quite fit what we usually call "epic"...but when you think about it it IS epic) as for music...I gotta say the Star Wars origional trilogy has some of the best epic music ever....any time I see the scene where Vader is talking about Luke's sister and Luke is hiding under the stairs then he runs out screaming "NO!"....I get chills with that music that plays.
  22. I heard about Van Halen back together last night. They're going on tour, actually i think they're already on tour. I wanna catch their show in Toronto. That band kicks butt!
  23. Well we went to see this last night. My buddy and I had been looking forward to seeing this movie for a long time. Partly for the movie itself and partly to see Kate Beckinsale...she is super-sexy hehe. Our first clue should have been the mostly-empty theater. It starts off pretty good then it throws about 100(exaggeration) different plot lines into the mix and has trouble following all but 2-3 of them reliably. The plot is definately filled with a few holes, the acting was pretty bad on Jackman's side and there was more romantic chemistry between Bill&Ted then there is between Hugh and Kate. The comic-relief sidekick elicited all of 2 laughs from all 15 of us in the theater. The movie is close to two hours and I caught myself yawning a lot, I think they could have trimmed it to 90 minutes without a doubt but 120 probably seemed more worth their 200million dollar investment. On the plus side the special effects are VERY well done and Kate is looking good in a nice leather outfit with high-heel boots. It got a 74 from us with a good 10 of those for the above-mentioned outfit. Save your money and go see something else, this is almost not worth a rental.
  24. So I had to go to Tampa this week on business. I grabbed a couple movies from Blockbuster and even tossed this one for some reason. After takeoff I eased the seat back and got ready to watch a movie for the remainder of the flight. My laptop lasted a whopping 16 minutes before the battery died (I hate this old p.o.s. laptop, thankfully my new Dell arrives next week). I ended up finishing the movie at the hotel during the week. It was a very entertaining movie. I do not know why but I like Mandy Moore. I think she has that "hometown girl" appeal and just does a good job in all of her movies. If you have seen other Mandy movies you know that each one consists of a main character dying at some point for some reason and this one does NOT have this and it is refeshing haha. Anyways - The movie is a good date movie. It has some good humor that made me lol a few times and it was well worth the money for the rental. I gave it an 83.
  25. trailers this looks pretty good
