There seems to be a problem with 9800 pro's and doom 3 causing artifacts. Seems if you underclock your core a bit they go away. Apparently Doom3 is stressing things on these cards that no other game has ever stressed and is causing heating problems. Seems to be only 9800 pro's and not all 9800 pro's. Post here if you have issues. Apparently it is happening if you are using the pirated version also.

I've had zero problems from my 9800XT w/Overdrive

Really havent heard about anyone having troubles on any of the forums I visit.

I would suggest that the peeps with problems are prolly overclocking without proper cooling.

No... it is mostly 9800 Pro 128MB cards. May be a driver issue related to that. Hard to say at the moment. Just got up and got to work, no time to look into it right now to see if something was figured out.

Bad news.

My brother's 9800XT has tons of Red and White dots all over his doom 3 game.

It sucks bad.

His video card has never been overclocked and his case has good cooling.

Guess Ima be contacting ATI for a RMA> 8P):twitch:<_<

Going to DX9c (which is out now btw) and the 4.9 beta's fixed this for many people.

Some people had to use the ATI Tool and downclock like 20 mhz and that fixed it. Doom3 is very demanding.

im considering a format and installing dx9c and the 4.9 beta's on a clean install.

you using dx9c ZD ? i read it gives a nice performance boost.

Well I've been using XP SP2 for a while now and they had DX9c integrated into that. So you can say that I've been using "c"

I may be picky, but even if I turn off overdrive I feel like I've been ripped off.

If I have to underclock to fix these problems the card is defiantly getting sent back. :bang:

I do not blame this on ATI so much as I do Carmack for making a game too damn demanding of your hardware. lol
