On Newegg, any good

I have no idea about laptops and I'm really just looking for something I can surf the web around home and perhaps take with me when I travel with work to play some CIV IV/CSS etc. on.

 

Would this do the trick and is it a good deal?

Not to be picky, but 128mb vid card ?

I'd try to get at least 256, but that pricy is very nice and could be worth it.

That was one of two things that stopped me just clicking "buy now" the other was the processor (just to add, the processor only because I have no idea whether that's a good one or not)......... I feel very old and out of touch with tech stuff at times.

whats your pc set up at home?

 

I have a feeling that if its nice, you won't really enjoy playing css on your lappy, thus you can get away with one with those spec's and only a 128 mb gpu

I'd budget my laptop to $1500 and try getting either rebates or sales discounts. That means a comp that'd be $2500 or so for $1500. I know it'd prolly be hard to do but try digging in.

My home PC's good, not great (but I'm going to be doing a fresh build first quarter next year). I guess general consensus is that's it's a good enough but not great laptop (which is what I was thinking), that as a backup/travel/surf the web wirelessly around home isn't a bad option for the price?

And just read your post Vovik, I'll be honest I'm not got a screaming need for a laptop, but saw this and thought it looked like a reasonable deal, and I like your thinking.

that laptop will play cs:s just fine. don't listen to these fools. it's not all about ram ppl. that'a decent gpu on a 1280x800 res screen. it will run it just fine.

 

that's actually a really nice looking deal. the specs are very good for the price. only downside is that it's an acer which is one of the lowest quality brands. that said, nothing has been skimped on as far as the specs. even the battery is a good 8 cell battery.

agreed it will run cs:s fine, but you're still playing it on a 15" display and smaller keyboard.

 

but maybe its just me, i just couldn't ever get in to gaming on a laptop.

Thanks all, will probably do the deal tonight when I get home, it's not going to be my main PC by any means, more of a travel mate and the price seems too attractive to miss out on.
