dragonfly February 1, 2008 Author Share dragonfly Member February 1, 2008 So I want to install xp on my new HDD. I'm currently running 2x250WD's in RAID 0 for vista, and I'm using the evga 680i (122-ck) mobo. For some reason, although it's recognized in the bios, xp is saying i dont have a disk hooked up. Do i really need to install the raid drivers because i have an array set up??? PS I have raid disabled for all my other sata ports on my mobo afaik. mookie February 1, 2008 Share mookie GC Alumni February 1, 2008 If there's anything weird going on, just disconnect all the other drives. I ended up with Windows on E: on my last reinstall and Windows is unwilling/unable to rename the partition it's on.
dragonfly February 1, 2008 Author Share dragonfly Member February 1, 2008 (edited) That wont affect the raid 0 as long as i get them plugged back in the same slots, right? That's the only thing I'm worried about... edit: could i just unplug their power cables? Edited February 1, 2008 by DarkArchon

If your RAID setup loses all its data from being disconnected though that's not a very useful redundant array.
Cujo February 2, 2008 Share Cujo Member February 2, 2008 well he's not using raid for redundancy as he's using raid 0. dark, you can unhook and hook up your raid drives to ANY ports on the same raid controller. don't worry about remembering which ports they were on.
