Hey,

with you being a DJ and all, thought you might know this. My buddy who owns a bar is looking to something better than just playlists from his ipod over the sound system.

Was wondering if you knew places to download/buy actual dj mixes, the newer the music the better, and more hip hop. I have been able to find some, but there pretty poopty and old.

Yeah they can be a bit of a pain to find. Try some of these links

http://www.worldsflyest.com/

http://www.superstardjs.org/

http://www.2illegalaliens.com/

http://www.djicewater.com/

http://www.djdownloadz.com/

I know there are mixes up on iTunes that you could check out. Also, you could contact DJ's who do podcasts as many of them will allow small bars/clubs to air them (if that's an option for you).

If you can't find anything try searching http://www.scratchlive.net/ as there are many DJ's on there who are generally clawing to get their mixes heard.

And try http://www.crooklynclan.net/ if you're feeling dumb.

i had an advisement meeting (rly, i was advising them - pick up when done lol'ing) around this exact topic. without wasting everyone's time, can you go into detail about the quote above? was going to pm you about it, but thought m2db might want to eavesdrop, too. thanks, hun.

Mashups are so overdone it's dumb, sorry if this is drama free.

still hold true if it's being played mainstream, trendy, college kid clubs? granted stuff we (i hope) steer clear of, but that's the market he's after.

note: mainstream. mass market appeal.

No, people love em everywhere, I just hear them far too much and some of them make me question my faith in humanity (I think it was a Queen/ACDC/Kanye mashup that caused me to reconsider my lunch one day)

I HATE mashups. My hate for them burns with the intensity of a thousand suns.

Anyone that ruins a classic AC/DC song like that should be executed French-Revolution-Style.

That is all.

Holy crap take it easy! :biglaugha: There are some good ones that I'm sure even you would enjoy and while on the subject of AC/DC you do know that...oh...you know you might not be able to take the truth...AC/DC has a secret, I'm cool with it but many fans would claw my eyes out at the mere mention so I'll keep it to myself.

man, re-reading that I sure did fly off the handle there :biglaugha:

I've heard all the AC/DC "talk" before - I'm no rabid fan but some of their classic stuff should just be left well enough alone. They're the kind of band I have to listen to in small portions before it all starts blending together, but they sure as hell know how to rock.

I guess my biggest problem with "mash ups" is that I end up only wanting to hear one of the original songs in it's entirety and I get annoyed when it switches around.
