anonymo March 6, 2009 Share anonymo Member March 6, 2009 if someone lifts your username and password, it's the equivalent of someone walking off with all your game cd's. I can't believe this guy writes for PC world...
Ringadon March 6, 2009 Share Ringadon Member March 6, 2009 one of the reasons I only buy from the steam app itself and never the steampowered website (though mainly it's just easier)
anonymo March 6, 2009 Share anonymo Member March 6, 2009 Always always always use a major credit card, that way if anyone ever steals your account you can always get it back. I had my Steam account stolen late last year and (barring some technical issues on my end) once I gave my CC info and billing address to Steam they had my account back in my possession within 24 hours. samurai nightling March 6, 2009 Share samurai nightling Member March 6, 2009 last year someone had somehow changed my password to block me out of my acount. I had NEVER given anyone my account info, I'm not that dumb, i double check everything before typing in something secure which rarely happens anyway. But anywho, i don't know how the person got into my account, but after contacting steam, i had to send a picture of my HL2 cd key to show i actually purchased the game along with my username printed above the cd key in the picture. With that proof they allowed me to change my password and regain my account.
