bullet-401 June 4, 2009 Share bullet-401 Member June 4, 2009 After how many long years without a gaming PC I'm finally able to build a new one! I did a lot of research. So much new stuff out on the market holy cow. I went with a AM3 tricore system. Now why did I do that? Follow the link and read. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/socket...henom,2148.html From the stats on there the Tricore was within 1fps with the quadcore. So why buy a quadcore for $100 more? Also the ability to overclock the 720 is insane since it's a Black Edition. Most people go from 2.8ghz to 3.8ghz with no problem. This will be running Vista x64 Business for now. Total Build Cost: $1000 without Monitor or Mouse. Cujo June 4, 2009 Share Cujo Member June 4, 2009 don't even bother with vista. download and install windows 7 rc1. you won't regret it. also, it plays a lot nicer with ssd drives. nice system though. if i was building an amd system it would probably be very similar. Cujo June 5, 2009 Share Cujo Member June 5, 2009 hmm maybe I should just go for 7 then. Vista drivers work in 7 I assume? most major products have windows 7 drivers out now. any that don't typically work fine with vista drivers installed in device manager. VooDooPC June 5, 2009 Share VooDooPC Member June 5, 2009 If I get Windows 7 RC will I have to format when I buy the full version? I don't remember how it worked with Vista.
bullet-401 June 5, 2009 Author Share bullet-401 Member June 5, 2009 yeah I'm curious on that too. It's not going to be the end of the world if I have to though.
dwEEziL June 5, 2009 Share dwEEziL Member June 5, 2009 I would say reinstalling will be required but I bet someone out there will figure out a crack so that an "upgrade" will work. I know they did for the Beta-to-RC route.
