samurai nightling May 4, 2011 Share samurai nightling Member May 4, 2011 Anyone ever start up their PC and have it want to do a CHKDSK? Just happened to me today randomly, and it said it found 0 bad sectors etc etc. Everything seemed fine and the comp booted up afterwards like normal. Just wondering what may have tripped it to want to do that.
Preacher May 4, 2011 Share Preacher Member May 4, 2011 The ghost in the machine!!!! You need holy water now!!!! More than likely it just had an error on shut-down similar to when you power off by yanking the plug or with a power outage. I thought that windows xp was the last OS to use auto scandisk but I could be wrong.
ZeroDamage May 5, 2011 Share ZeroDamage Member May 5, 2011 Nope, Windows Vista and 7 will also do a scan if it detects that it is needed. Only worry if it starts happening a lot.
