tonerrrr August 13, 2012 Share tonerrrr Member August 13, 2012 Probably not possible since it's not in there already but would there be a way to have in very small text on the right, or bottom everyone's name on your team and show if they're talking or not? A lot of times you don't know who's who when people are talking which can be mildly annoying in general especially when it comes to sending points. JackieChan August 13, 2012 Share JackieChan GC Alumni August 13, 2012 Not possible. Valve changed it from actually having that (really early L4D1 days) to having stupid useless speech bubble icons above a player's head and their name on the HUD instead because this game is built on a 4 person team structure, not a 10 person team. Biggs August 14, 2012 Share Biggs GC Alumni August 14, 2012 I've asked about this on the sourcemod modders site, and it sounds to me like it's impossible. Sorry, I wish we could do this.
Sky August 14, 2012 Share Sky Member August 14, 2012 Crash asked about whether you could detect when a player is speaking. Short and simple answer is: No, it's impossible. Also, you can't display values on the right side of the screen in left 4 dead 2. The only locates are the small text in the center of the screen, the hint area, and the chat box on the left. We wish "voicerecord" was listen-able, but it just isn't. If someone is spamming, the best idea is to just open a menu and go down the list blocking people on it, until the music stops. TheDude August 14, 2012 Share TheDude Member August 14, 2012 How about in the beginning of the match you can type !v (for !voicechat) if you are using voicechat, which puts you in a list you can consult similar to !teams?
Socks August 14, 2012 Share Socks Member August 14, 2012 In regards to sending points: how about instead of a text output we get a little window saying, 'would you like to send ABC points to XYZ?' when we use np? Or we could increase the jocky spawn to 11.

You would have to be careful w/ this one, if to confirm sending points is binded to the regular 1/2(yes/no) otherwise someone can send points to someone when they didn't mean to because they were weapon switching. But I like the idea because it allows you to send points in times of distress when you can't afford to stop and type.

Even if you were put on a list, there'd be no way to notify anyone when anyone on the list is actually speaking, and you're not going to convince people to bind +voicechat to the key they use for their microphone. There is no solution to tracking voice users.
