What do you use your tablet for primarily?

Most affordable with beasty spec goes to Nvidia Shield Tablet

Best high-end tablet goes to Google Nexus 9 (built by HTC). Nexus is known to get OS update first so when Android M comes out, you will be the first few to get it. Also, getting to the bootloader to load Cyanogen OS is easiler than other android device

Best productivity is a tied between Apple iPad Air and Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (Asus Transformer is a cheaper alternative)

Samsung Galaxy is rich in spec and the screen is beautiful

It really comes down to what you are using. If you use your tablet camera, they all pretty much stinks except Apple.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8in myself which I just use for Marvel Unlimited and chromecasting Netflix, does its job.

I think the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro is the best overall even though it came before the Tab S. Note that the Tab 4, Pro and S all came out in 2014.

Yeah, it just depends what you use it for.

The lean is either the Tab Pro 10.1 (new) or the equivalent Note (refurbished). Just checking with the horde to see if there were any other options worth our time to look at.

Figure we can move the Touchpads on eBay for 90+ each. Not bad for 3 (4?) year old tablets gotten for $150 a pop.

Specifically...

SAMSUNG Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Samsung Exynos 3GB Memory 16GB 10.1" REFURB

SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 Quad Core 2GB Memory 16GB 10.1" 2560 x 1600

SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 Quad Core 3GB Memory 32GB 12.2" REFURB

All have the 2000+ screen resolution. That last choice is the standard non-Note tablet but at 12.1 inches. Tempting.

And yes, I'd kill for a Surface 3 but this is mainly a strategic move to grab some value out of the Touchpads before they really lose all value. The new Windows Office stuff for Android will not run on these (I suspect, they are non-ARM and I think that's required). Gonna miss these guys. Fantastic tablets.
