Word January 15, 2004 Share Word Member January 15, 2004 Hey everybody, greetings from Baghdad! I just got my new $2500 laptop in the mail a few weeks ago and now I have CoD which I ordered but it won't work. Every time I get to the main menu and hit 'single player' nothing happens except a brief pause and then the music starts up again at the main menu. I had an initial problem installing it because when it was around 90% completed we had to rush out on a mission and when I came back my computer had frozen up and wouldn't reboot for quite a while. I tried reinstalling it twice but the same problem occured. Please Help, it will take another month before I can get a replacement. (No Best Buys here). [Mmmm]Homer January 15, 2004 Share [Mmmm]Homer Member January 15, 2004 Can you post what exact model laptop you got? I'm thinking this is a video compatibility issue.
soul .gc January 15, 2004 Share soul .gc Member January 15, 2004 Most likely video problem as Homer stated. I installed it on my desktop and it would work fine with an old geforce3 card. When I put a 5600 card in the game would start and sound would go, but no video at all. I had to upgrade my motherboard to finally play with the 5600 card. Activision was NO help in this matter and pretty clueless overall. I know you have a laptop but do you know what video card it uses? If it is ATI there is a nice download that fixes their problems. dwEEziL January 15, 2004 Share dwEEziL Member January 15, 2004 If you have an ATI card, I found a post on a CoD forum that talks of a utility called "MobileMod" that will allow the ATI released drivers to work on laptops with some minor tweaking (ATI typically leaves laptop driver support to the laptop maker). Soul, my bro and I were having a similar issue on the second computer he had. We figured out it had something to do with the ATI Control Panel. Whenever the control panel was installed, it wouldn't work right. We ended up configuring the settings as we wanted then uninstalled the control panel. It went smooth from there.
