After my vid card gave out I turned my comp off and I haven't turned it back on until today. I was having the same problem before after my other vid card stopped working, but now when I turn on the comp it just emits long steady beeps until it turn it off again. This doesn't sound good...

DFI NT70-SC mobo

P4 2.2gig

Radeon 9700pro

could my AGP slot be bad now? Help plz....

Aparently this beep means that there is a video error. So I pulled out the card and booted up. The beeping noise went away. Hmmm.... Unfortunately I don't have onboard video, so I'm sorta confused about what to do. Could a bad card fry my AGP slot? or maybe the card wasn't bad after all? oh boy...

Well I put the new card into my wifes comp and walla it works.. I'll be trying the old one tomorrow...it's late tonight and I'm bushed. I'll let you guys know what I find out. I ran that old card for 2 weeks after the fan went out. Perhaps it was my AGP slot going the whole time. If so i guess I've got a new vid card and I'm in the market for a new mobo. :bang:

Well I put both cards in my wife's comp and walla...they both work fine...Also I took my comp completely apart and meticulousely cleaned the whole thing. Reassembled it and...ssdd. So I didn't need a vid card after all I'm assusming...the AGP on my mobo or perhaps my mobo in gen is FUBAR. So I'm in the market for a new one...GG.

sorry to hear that man...yours isn't under warranty anymore?

Built this PC 2 years ago... I don't think the mobos come with a 100,000mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

No, but some mobo companies like ABIT have a 3 year warranty.

After reading I did some research, but apparently between moves I've lost my warranty information. I still have the original reciept and the manual, but I can't find any other info. I've sent an email to tech-support@dfi.com so we'll see where that gets me. I looked around for a smilar mobo and the best I can find that is the same or a little better than the one I have now will cost me over 100bucks which is strange to me b/c I payed 122 when I first bought it. Does the RIMM based mobo's hold value like the ram does or am I missing something here?

RIMM = Rambus?  noone uses rambus anymore.  It all went to DDR.

Rambus makes up about 6% of the market compared to DDR's like 93% dont know who has the other 1%. Right now rambus's manstream is in your PS2/Xbox, but even though it's pricey, when it comes to bandwith rambus is king. Look out in 2006 though when XDR comes out. :o
