  1. http://starcraft.incgamers.com/blog/comments/starcraft-ii-system-requirements-revealed/ Those are some LOW system requirements...was expecting much higher from the screen shots and what not. A good idea if you can pull of some pretty graphics on a wide range of systems. I REALLY WANT THIS GAME TO FINALLY COME OUT.
  2. LOL Maverick agrees with this statement, granting it the Maverick seal of approval. PS: This actually does look pretty cool here: http://www.destructoid.com/here-s-what-nova-shift-play-like-on-the-ipad-161953.phtml#ext
  3. two things:1. are you bloody british? 2. did you read the hands on review where it was AMAZINGLY MOAR FASTER? make it 3 things. 3. if this were a big zune, you'd have to go change your drawers. just calling it like i see it. with love, sj I don't know why I use "bloody" all the time... In any case, yeah, it's faster...big deal. The tablet that HP is coming out with that docks to a keyboard to get a Core 2 Duo processor is much faster. Is it kinda nifty? Yup. Is it revolutionary and amazing? Nope. I was more impressed with the iPhone when it came out than I am with this thing. You can ALREADY buy a text book that will read in Windows (and Leapord for that matter), and you can buy a nice 10-inch wide 1.5 inch thin netbook that can do more than this and has more power. That's all I'm saying. I was just hoping for more, that's all. It's basically a giant iPod with a focus on E-Reading capabilities (which I hate anyway). I'll buy an E-reader when E-books are as cheap as they should be. They cost more than paperbacks, which is dumb as they cost a LOT less to produce. FYI, I'd be just as dissapointed if MS launched a giant Zone that had similar capabilities as its smaller counter-part. It's a tad easier to carry around an iPod touch than the iMaxi--we'll talk when it gets its own exclusive apps. If they're impressive enough, maybe this thing will be worth it. As of now, it's definitely not.
  4. Sure, SJ, especially when you're hiring paid charismatic actors to get into crowded situations (i.e., subways, busses, planes, etc.) and say how awesome the product is. Not to mention, if you create enough hype about something, people will go see what it's about just out of curiosity--that's why I saw Avatar, curiosity. I'm agreeing that it was a decent flick with good special effects. What I'm saying is that it wasn't exactly revolutionary either. It could have done with a slightly better script--or, barring that, perhaps some not-as-ridiculous-villains. I will tell you what I liked most about Avatar: a movie with a happy ending is popular for once. It's straight forward rather than some enigmatic and overly artsy flick in which everyone dies and the world is a horrible place. I just want to get away from the latter trend. I don't want to pay people to depress me.
  5. Wasn't this already posted here? I do believe I put it in the original Avatar post... Hahaha...it was a fun movie, but it was hardly original. Like I said before, if I see it on sale on BluRay some time well after its release, I'll probably pick it up. Cameron has these high-grossing movies because of his advertising prowess. Basically, if you tell the public how awesome you are, and you pay other famous people to say how awesome you are, for a long enough time, you will get people believing that you're the bee's knees. That's how the iPod got off the ground, and it's how Apple does its advertising still. Now, if James Cameron got on Apple's advertising team, they could take over the world!
  6. it's an iPod touch with a giant screen and slightly faster processor...it's bloody lame. For the same price, you can get a netbook or a different tablet with actual computing power...I was hoping for a lot more...
  7. Why a 939 socket, if you don't mind me asking? I would definitely go with a 1366 socket with an i7 were I you, or if you REALLY don't care about upgrades and want to save a little money, go with the 1156 and an i7. Those things are great. As far as saving money is concerned, the nVidia 260 GTX is a good vid card for your buck, but I'd personally spend a little more and go with a GTX 275. You're still saving money, but getting a little more juice. Anyway, hope that advice helps a little. I really like these two boards: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131386R http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131404 I would REALLY go with the first one--killer open-box deal, and the 1366 is definitely the way to go.
  8. Hey, 26-30 is not old yet. (I'm just in the bottom of the group, but still). If 40 is the new 20, I'm only 13! Whoohoo!
  9. Yeah, it has the standard monthly fee. I played through the little introductory part, and I'm not overly impressed. There were several glitches with me walking around the initial star ship I was on, and borg just magically appearing out of no where in endless waves. I mean, give a little transporter shimmer instead of having them just pop in. Character creation was pretty cool, I will say that. The space combat seemed a little wonky to me. I got into it a bit, and getting that perfect broadside was pretty cool, but, from what I understand, a lot of the game focuses on away-missions, and the character based movement and combat was pretty terrible. There were all sorts of collision errors, and it felt very sluggish. I would have preferred something a lot more like Mass Effect for controls, or something along those lines. Maybe I'm being too picky, but I expected a lot out of this game...so I dunno...
  10. I couldn't remember how old I was for a minute...it seems that once I passed the age of 21 where I was officially allowed to do everything (even though I don't really drink), I started to have trouble remembering . . .
  11. It's an MMO...sounds pretty interesting. It has a completely different mechanic from WoW, that's for sure. You are a starship captain in this thing, basically.
  12. Actually, I think it'd run on there--you would just have to turn off some of the fancier graphics settings (i.e., shadows and reflections). It's a great game though.
  13. I got a key today for the Star Trek beta, so I'm going to give it a go. Is anyone else playing?
  14. Hahaha...thanks Arrakiv--you guys ever need a guest writer, let me know! Oh, and welcome to the community!
  15. I'm a technical writer for a company called TMSI that sort of invents and makes testing equipment for the automotive industry. Right now, we mostly build tire test machines of one sort or another. The fun part is getting to play with giant machines capable of crushing steel truck tire rims like pieces of tin-foil. Well, that and learning all about vehicle dynamics and how much crap goes into making something as innocuous as a tire. The boring part is...well, writing manuals. At the end, it's kinda boring--the process building up to the actual writing is cool, because I have to figure everything out. Where I'd like to go from here: something in creative writing--it's what I've always wanted to do. Maybe get one of the books I'm working on published or something along those lines. Oh, I'm married (have been for 2 years), and it's great! Bought a house not too long ago, which is also great, but a headache at the same time. Amanda and I rescued a retired racing Greyhound named Cisco...and that pretty much wraps it up. :-)
  16. I have it on PC and really like it a lot, then again, I get the multiple views on it too. With a mouse/keyboard combo it is pretty dern easy to control my party. It is a resource hog, I think, but my laptop handles it just fine: ASUS G72 with a 260GTX (1GB of dedicated RAM). I have the settings cranked, but I'm sure with a little downplay an older system could handle it. I'm loving the game thus far though--the plot is good (though complex), and the voice acting is pretty good too (for the most part). The conversation choices are a little more complex and intricate when compared to Mass Effect and KOTOR, but that's a good thing. I.E. the jerk choices aren't always in the same spot, and it's not nearly as black & white. All-in-all, I'd definitely go with the PC version; I use the iso-view in every single fight, just about. It's a MAJOR help.
  17. Yup, once you're a lunatic soldier, you're always a lunatic soldier! Good to see you too Venge!
  18. Some of us CsLs guys are still around.... I don't know about this MsLs you speak of.
  19. Blown capacitor killed my Mom's computer recently.
  20. SJ has also officially mated with his Apple products, he was legally married up in Canada to his MacBook. Welcome back! I have been playing a lot of Dragon Age and Borderlands lately, but I've been feeling the itch for CS:S as of late, so I should play some in the near future. I think CS:S is due for another face-lift to attract everyone back to the game. MW:2, I refuse to buy because of how they screwed with us PC gamers--I mean, getting people's ISPs to suspend their service? That's pretty lame.
  21. They are definitely well BUILT machines, but I wouldn't pay that much money for one personally--I'm perfectly impressed with the build quality of my ASUS. Now, admittedly, a lot of PC brands leave a lot to be desired with their cheap builds and bad heat management, but the Apple Tax is a bit high.
  22. Wow, Macs ARE still expensive--I mean, a 9400m? That's terrible--I'm running a 260 GTX with a gig of DDR3 dedicated RAM in my laptop, and it was $999 new (ASUS G72). My advice would be to wait until they reveal the new MacBooks (supposedly soon) at which time, the old ones (which for some reason have 3 generation old video cards in them) will go down in price.
