  1. I like the lantern idea! As far as pwning, let's just say I consider the .gc servers a nice target rich environment.
  2. Hope this help. Just a tad more comprehensive, the proggy is avail @ visualware.com or on your local file sharing network.
  3. If i ever don't have my trusy car headlight around I will try to use moonlight or just let my eyes adjust to night vision (eat lots of carrots lol). Setting up a tent in the dark is quite easy actually. The hardest part is making sure u dont put it on top of a rock/stump or something, so clear the ground thoroughly first. Also, be sure to have a picnic table or mat to set all of the smaller pieces, ie: hammer, pegs, and any ties you might need, this way you don't loose them when ur setting up. Always remember, the bottom pole always goes in first. Have a good time! mHtt aka Dopey'
  4. These were the last 2 left (0:57), they stayed like this for at least 30 seconds, until the T got antsy and crawled past the hostie, and nailed the CT in the head with an HS. One of the more humrorous spans of 30 seconds ive seen while playing cs:s. What interesting pics have you got?
  5. I am 49% addicted to Counterstrike. What about you? seems to be a popular number.
  6. umm i guess ill take a stab at it: you're going with a 66 TR?
  7. Alot of people think that lag is the reason hitboxes trail, however, these pics were on a closed server, with bots. Lag does not exist when the server, and client are the same processor. either way, im glad you guys are interested in this discussion.
  8. Was reading a thread over @ steam forums discussing hitboxes, here's where they lie when running: walking: tip toeing: and finally, standing still: I've never actually seen the hitboxes like this before. However, I did also come across this article in my reading, which explains: I guess it's up to you to decide. have fun!
  9. I dont deny that at all, I was on the ledge, because it's an elevated position, to enemies entering t spawn, and thats always favourable. I'm settled that this was discussed. From the beginning I was never out to 'change' anything, I just wanted to have the behaviour of gc admins be the topic of discussion, within the context of the situation which occured between you and I. I believe that this thread is the fruition of that desire. In order to understand the nature of my position, you must first know that I enter arguments not to win favour, or acceptance, but under the auspice that when one learns, one always comes out better for it. In this spirit I learned alot about .gc and it's admins. I thank everyone here for their time/energy. Fatty, Ill c ur corpse on the server.
  10. First of all Fatty, I had my deagle out, not my awp. Second of all, I was not crouched, I was making my way around the corner, not pacing back, not sitting still, I was on a run of about 15 seconds without stopping once. Thirdly, Im sure many of the regulars on the server can vouche for the fact that I ALWAYS play a team game, oftentimes sacrificing my life, to complete objectives. To think that anyone might draw any entertainment out of this pleases me in that I'm glad I could be the source of your collected amusement, I do not like to be the source of attention. I feel it usually distracts. Your attempts to ignore my argument are honorable, but for the record my My argument from the beginning has been, Granted: I was in the spawn, walking slowly, not near the bomb, and having been awping for a few kills prior to the incident in question (this has never been contested by me.) therefore I think GC: should be clear about punishible behaviour, and take steps to earnestly differentiate between real acts of server lameness, and genuine moments of play (which I contend this was)
  11. I also would like to note that there have been numerous instances where players have fought back from being down 4,3-1, it makes for some of the best gameplay CS is known for. PS. I am being told that I am flooding the board, when I haven't made a post in hours. And am not able to make new posts. Can you explain why this is happening? Ps. I WAS walking...(9:00pm EST)
  12. Well, I was crawling on the ledge, because it stops me from making footstep noises.
  13. Calling me a "Joke' Yet another instance of behaviour you conduct, but wont tolerate on your servers. Can the fellow gc players not see the hypocracy?
  14. I dont understand why sometimes youll give warnings and others you wont though.
  15. Dear GC admin, whom I'm fairly certain is weighted heavily in favour of the admin I am about to complain about, but nonetheless, my treatement on your server deserves even the ernestmost oppposition, despite how sisyphean it may be in nature. I am writing to complain about my treatment today by fatty. I was a T on the map de_aztec, I was sniping the water, trying to back my team up, when CT broke through DD, and Bridge, and made me the only surviving team member. Now when they had broken through bridge, and DD I had picked a few (2) off from my spot below T spawn in the water, so I knew they knew where I was, plus I was taking m4 fire from under the bridge. I retreated back into my spawn, to perhaps pick off a few of my attackers, but also to take a second to see who was left alive, and where the bomb was. At this point kept in mine there was 1:30 left ont he scoreboard. To my horror I was the only one left and the bomb was way on the other side of the map, with 5+ CTS still running around. Speaking of who, some of which i knew would be flanking me from behind any minute from my own spawn. I waited a moment at the top of the ramp from water to T spawn, both to try and pick off peeps coming from DD area, and to hear anyone who might have been behind me in the water. As it became obvious that no one was coming from the front I proceeded to move to the spawn, and on into the DD area, and then the rest of the map. It is at this moment when I was slain by the admin who gave me no warning whatsoever. I was then slain again when I spawned the next round. Again for no given reason. Fatty then told me I was slain for making him wait. I then pointed out that as the admin, he has the power to make the rounds shorter, if he wishes. He then slayed me again. Telling me to "SHADDUP" I would like to remind the gc admin, and all other GC player that over the course of this event I never swore or conducted myself in the manner to which I was being exposed. The GC admin however, did NOT give any warning, and in my opinion abused admin privliges when I was slain the 2nd and 3rd time, which I feel was totally unnesecary. Whats interesing is that until the admins started slaying me for making them wait, the T's had gone 9-2 on the map, and were about to end the round. We then lost 5 rounds in a row, because the CTS had gotten money when Fatty ended the round by slaying me. It is in this nature that fatty used his admin privilages to give his team an unfair advantage by ending a round prematurely giving them money, when they might not have won, and completely effecting the outcome of the entire game. I'm not saying change, im not saying what you did was wrong. I simply want to post what happened so that the people who patronize your server can see that the admins demand one level of maturity from their players, but adhere to an entirely lower one themselves. Jasper AKA mHtt Ps. I was told by numerous players to make this post and that they would reply and back up my story. SO I please ask you to not delete, or lock this thread until light has been shed on this entire set of events and the responsible parties are held accountable. thank you.
  16. All of this talk about skill, seems pretty pointless to me. Using the stats to gauge whether one is a good player or not is pointless, for multiple reasons. Firstly, numbers, especially in a formulaic system cannot represent reality, because every situation is different. Case in point: Having the best score one a server means that you can kill the enemy and complete objectives: IE save hosties, plant/defuse bomb. As we all know, being good @ CS:S is much much more than just attaining a high score. It's about being able to anticipate an enemy strategy, and co ordinate your teams effort, to complete your mission objectives, while losing as few resources as possible. This being said, there are many strategies that one can undertake that help a team win rounds, but are never enumerated, because they don't exist as events the server is designed to record. Strategies that result in a low personal score, but help one's team out incalculably include: Rushing bombsites, suicide mac-10 rushes, baiting snipers who are about to be flanked, covering the bomb carrier... etc. It is agreed that a combined team effort oriented style of play is desireable, the public nature of the game doesn't require players to facilitate this. Simply calling players who don't actively work to attain team goals "noobs" isn't entirely justified. Indeed many factors other than how long someone has been playing CS, can effect how effective they are in the field of play. A good example of how inaccurate the label of "noob" can be, is relevant to my CS:S career. Indeed I've only been playing CS since Dec of '04, 4 months, and I routinely score highly in recrud, and planet mayhem. Personally, I think the gc servers should be left as public as possible, with no stream lining of skills. That should be left up to individuals who are willing to put in the time and effort to create clans and engage in that sort of play, in an environment where every player is consensually involved. mHtt AKA Jasper
  17. Name :"cadarian" STEAMID: STEAM_0:1:5281149 -Recrud, -approx 2:15pm EST -Magruter was also online @ time of incident. I have made 2 demos. I believe they both speak for themselves. I also would like to point out that cadarian dies at the end of the 1st demo. After he put up a few amazing headshots, people began accusing him of hacking. he then he takes a long pause in spawn, while, as i speculate, he configures his hacks gui in a panic, that he'll be caught. But once the heat is off, he turns it on again, as seen in the 2nd demo. thanks. I will send the demos upon the request of any gc admin.
  18. Actually this is an example of someone using a cuss word, in order to convey the urgency of the following apology. It is a perfect example of a thoughtful swear word. Well, sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn't, as i stated previously, it depends on the context. As far as creating a community that meets your standards, and does not cater to other's views, that is entirely acceptable, I was simply pointing out the inconsistincies in Thomas' argument, in order to further a constructive debate. It was when you responded to my furthering of his argument, that a clear explanation of why the rules are the way they are came out. This was my intent.
  19. Heh, nice try, you can't just create a flawed argument as this, and then use it's flaw to support your own opinion, this is a straw argument. Here's Why: It takes not only millions of neurons to inhale, open one's jaw, manipulate the larynx and toungue in a way that project audible vocal strings in a manner that is decipherable to those exposed to the contemprary lexicon. Not to mention the neurons required to conjure up a suitable word, and then hit the voicrerecord key to broadcast it into the server. All of your questions really hinge on a clear definition of 'mature' something, you strive honorably, yet fail to communicate in any specific fashion. Firstly we need to understand that not all instances of 'mature' language are equal. Indeed context plays a major role. The other day I was banned for saying: "s**t sorry" over the mic when I lobbed a nade that hit a teammate. This is a perfect example of how this policy negatively effects the server. I was punished for an action that was done out of good will, simply because an admin desired to hold up server beurocracy. Secondly, You are really just stating the same point here. What's unfortunate is that in the context your giving it, it is necessary for you to determine the perpetrator's motivations for them. You don't know if they intend to demean the individual, your simply assuming to know what their motivations are. This is similar to children in the school yard who assume to know what someone's intentions are, and therefore justify a reaction. Your quite ironically resorting to decidedly immature tactics (motivation assumption) to reinforce your argument. Also, I don't think you thought this through: This statement alone could also be used to disregard server policy, for are those who are being offended by such profanity, also reacting with anger or frustration over something so immaterial as a computer game. In fact why not just ignore people who swear altogether, then the use of these words would have no legitimate purpose, and they'd probably stop being used. It's exactly reactions like yours that fuel people whose only desire is to get a resoinse out of you. Personally, I do think the the .gc policy needs to be changed. Not in a way that allows people to cuss all they want, but in a way that distinguishes swearing done in the heat of battle and adrenaline, from cussing done arbitrarily, or to intentionally harm, or attack someone. This would prevent legitmate instances of swearing to communicate a genuine emotion (fear, surprise, humour, sorrow) from being confused with more immature individuals, who act in a way that harasses people, and effects them negatively. To wit: I would define maturity, as the quality of the personality that arbitrates the ability to empathize with others in a way that allows one to conduct themself in a manner that maximizes the contentment of the greatest number of people.
  20. Heh, okay, well as of last night 11/02/04 I was still banned from STOCKS. The humorous part in all this is that I was banned for saying "s**t, sorry man" when i tossed a nade that bounced off a teammate, which puts me in the un enviable position of actually being banned for apologizing for tking a teammate. lol either way whatever course of action resolves this in as quick as way as possible is what id like to see. lates.
  21. Obviously there is not intended hostility in my posting, because that would alienate my channels of communication, by designating me as an agitator. This is not an identity I wish to associate with. I am simply saying: I was banned again yesterday, this time by bigshaw, for swearing into my mic. An accusation I do not challenge. I In fact am in full support of your administration system, and have cited various reasons why. I also, am not intending to create any sort of conflict within the .gc administration. This explains why I come out in defence of big shaws actions. However, Big Shaw, also communicated to me that I was to come here, and post to seek a resolution for this, 2nd incident. I did what he asked, and now it seems like he's mocking me, by not replying to the post he requested. I am simply confused at this seemingly inconsistent behaviour. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. mHtt
  22. Big Shaw banned me last night. I was then told over X-fire, by a friend of mine who was also playing on the server at that time, that I was to make a post here. I was told that this was a direction from bigshaw. So I made that last post, trying to substantiate big shaw's accusation, and capitualting as a form of submission, in order to demonstrate compliance with the will of the .gc administration. But now i come and see his response doesn't even regard my last post in any direct manner, leaves me to believe that he may be mocking me, in some e-socially indirect manner, to the general shegrin/amusement of his alias based contemporaries. Either way, can I just promise to be good and be done with this, i'd really like to frag on your server again I again state my desire to conclude this in as quickly and efficiently as possible. Thanks, mHtt
  23. [grovelling] ok, well I cussed on the mic today, after tossing a nade and hitting a friend of mine who was also playing. I guess i just got caught up in the game (soliciting empathy anyone?). Again this was my fault, and I understand why this happend. I also understand that you guys have to enforce your rules, and while this might sound ironic, I actually am glad that you do. Most servers just let people run amok. I know this server doesn't tolerate cussing, i didn't think it'd be a perm ban though. Other than that, ill do my best to stay out of your hair. thanks again. [/grovelling] I can assure you mt .gc server rule learning phase is over and if anything happens, even if my player model looks at an admin the wrong way I will accept your decision as final and not contest it. I'm sure you all have better things to do than deal with the pettiness of the people on your servers.
  24. From my experience adminning at oneworlon-line.com people could ban from hlsw, on 1.6 just by typing "admin_ban (3 character name string) (duration, 0=perm)" however, this was on 1.6, with servers running adminmod. Anyway, seems like a great community u have here, im glad this is resolved and I look forward to seeing u all online. lates. Thanks Again.
  25. If it makes ur job any easier, I was on STOCKS, CS:S, aroun 12:24pm EST. Sander, and Mag were playing at the time, on the other team though, so I dont think they saw what happened. Either way im sure the server console recorded it. Thanks again for your effort, I'm sorry to be a bother. :/ Can't wait to get back to fraggin'!
