  1. i lift everyother day but typically not very heavy i've just been kind of maintaining lately. When you start up i might participate a little i could stand to gain another 5 or 10 pounds.
  2. Platinum server was the bomb, that was a long time ago haha. Mmmmcs forums. TF, LC, pooflingers, DOH all oldschoolers. I think i have an older account here too with a few hundred posts..
  3. Holy Batman ! Glad to hear you are doing well and got a nice pay increase man. 40% that's pretty hefty !
  4. The XD line is great and reliable, but you should make sure you actually hold one before purchasing. I have owned a few handguns over the years and have learned my lesson. My last handgun for personal protection was a Glock29 which is 10mm, a bigger gun. I sold it to buy the Smith&Wesson .40 i have now because of the way it felt in my hands. Personally i don't like the feel of the XD's but everyone's hands are diff. The XD's are not in short supply either, most gun dealers will have a few. The local dealer here has a bunch, new and used. They are hard to beat for the price and reliability and the package that you get when you purchase.
  5. Most of the ammunition i have talked about it designed with your reasoning in mind. It is in most cases a lower velocity heavier round hollow point that is made to hit a target, expand and make a big hole inside of a target. It is not designed to go in and out, but go in and hurt. Most victims shot with this type of round can be found with the bullet still in them. This is the reason i use 155GR Winchester Ranger ammuntion (cop bullets), they are designed to enter a body and stay in there, not shoot through walls or obstacles.
  6. How often have you been attacked in your home by one guy, much less two? How do you know that 'enemies' usually come in pairs? heh Shaftiel I've never had my home broken into and hope i never do. I have done a fair amount of research and most of the time burglars come in pairs. It will be dark, just rolling out of bed, etc so i decided for myself atleast a revolver was not the best choice. Preach, glad no one was hurt and they were caught.
  7. Yes. You can shoot someone with a round from a .22 hangun using high velocity range ammo and it will put a nice clean hole through the target. You shoot someone with a .40 handgun and use the same high velocity range ammo and it will put a little bigger but still clean hole through the target. Now. Sub in a Hydra Shock bullet or Winchester Ranger and it will do massively more damage inside of the target and may not even make it through to the other side. That link i posted above will put these words into pictures that you can understand. They use different rounds fired into ballistic gel. Some ammunitions are really devastating while others still hurt but aren't likely to put you down unless they are very well placed. If someone wants to harm you, you would be suprised what they will go through to do that until you stop them. Since you don't own a handgun i will let you in on a secret. They are difficult to be accurate with past 35feet and even there you need a lot of practice to be consistent. So while yes almost any kind of bullet will kill if it's a headshot, that doesn't happen a whole lot in chaos situations. You aim for center mass and try to get 2 shots into center mass as quickly as possible. Doing this with a "damage dealing" bullet vs a "target range" bullet will net you vastly different results.
  8. That's a nice self defense weapon. I went with S&W .40 Sigma and the meanest ammo i can get. I hear people talking about they dont want their gun to jam when they really need it. I take this gun to the range a lot and put boxes and boxes through it and i have never gotten a jam in this gun. I trust it to my life. With a revolver you get your shots that are loaded up which is like 5 right, then your done. Enemies usually come in pairs so you better hope that every shot hits where it should. The route i took was practice practice practice at the range, load a few clips with winchester Ranger JHP's and sleep soundly at night knowing that i can switch a new 14round clip in, in less then 2 seconds. FBI reports that most of these panic situations are in home at night and intruders not standing still. I would consider myself an enthusiast here. I have been around guns since i was 7 with a break action 4/10 shotgun. Now i have a .357 revolver, S&W .40, 300 Whetherby, and a .22 rifle with a beefy scope for plinking around with. Oh and the 20guage shotty I leave the shotty loaded in my room with buckshot, .40 loaded w winchester rangers 155gr JHP. The other guns stay tucked away. Biggest thing is PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
  9. Thats close. The correct round for a 9mm in self defense ammo is Speer Gold Dot or Winchester Partition Gold, which are both hollow points. That link i posted above will clearify everything from a strictly damage dealing perspective.
  10. This is a thread dig but Duke caught my interest. I talk with a friend often who is Blackwater and was Marine Force Recon before that. I also own many guns and shoot at the range pretty often but i don't hunt game anymore. This is a listing for most popular weapons and the correct damage dealing ammunition to go along with them for anyone that carry's for personal defense. http://ammo.ar15.com/project/Self_Defense_Ammo_FAQ/index.htm Personally i carry a .40 S&W loaded with Winchester Ranger 155GR JHP's (Law Enforcement Ammo). I keep it bedside at night with 14 rounds in it, none in the chamber and in a holster for safety since the gun does not have one. It is easy to clean and is reliable. I have case's of ammo through this with 0 jams or any problem whatsoever so i trust my life to it. The biggest thing is with a handgun is shot placement, 2nd is ammo. You can be using zombie smoking bone crusher bullets but you have to hit the target first. so practice practice practice is the most important thing. a .45 ACP in theory should give you almost 60% more damage but that all goes out the window if you can't hit the target or control the recoil from the handgun. I choose a middle ground and went with the .40 for many reasons.
  11. I won't disagree that a good driver can drive a car in the snow... but go anywhere a 4x4 can ? PFFFFT !!!! Ill take my old Chevy with lift, super swamper tires over a Honda Civic in the snow any day of the week, and pull you outta the ditch too. I don't have to wait for snow to be plowed with my trukz. I can either plow it my darn self, or drive over it when a car can't. Never seen a car with metal studded tires either, which my plow truck has. It eats right through the ice for great traction. Though i carry a few hundred pounds of salt in the bed, that might play into it. But seiously aside from some of the AWD Subarus, there isn't a car that is going to keep up with a 4x4 with a foot of snow on the roads. Last winter i pulled so many cars outta ditches for 10 bux a pop it was crazy. With 3 4x4 trucks i don't believe even a well driven car can compete with a 4x4, that has a little weight in the bed. Like i said 1 of my trucks has a Meyer plow so counter the weight i weigh the rear down with salt bags, and it is pretty much unstoppable in the snow combined with winter metal stud tires.
  12. oh man.. i wish i had a pic of me 3 years ago with no shirt on.. I am not big now but compared to 3 years ago, much bigger. This pic was like 2 months ago so im about 8lbs heavier now, i was about 138 lbs in this pic, im at 145 now but i haven't lifted in over a week. I need to get start again i was really starting to get somewhere. I got wrapped up with work and the girlfriend and have totally forgotten about working out. I'll start back tomm !!!! I like the results, and the way it makes me feel. Don't laugh, im skinny, but believe it or not... i use to weigh 110lbs 3 years ago and thought i was healthy. CRIKIESSS !!! Sorry its so BIG lol.
  13. bwhahahaha ! SUV/4x4's are the only way to go, atleast imo. I've had so many cars and they just never have the room or utility i need. Let alone being able to drive over a curb and not get a flat tire or bent rim.. lol. The Xterra or an SUV is prob the way to go since you have a little pickup that you can't justify selling. I got a 4x4 F150 yesterday for dirt cheap, people are selling SUV's and pickups for waaay below KBB right now, it's def a good time to be in the market for a utility type vehicle. Just take your time and wait for the right deal to come along. I've been waiting about 4 months, looking in add's, newspapers, craigslist, etc every day and found the perfect deal and jumped on it the same day. Time is great, when it's on your side. A lot of people are hard up right now, so buy your time and you will find what your looking for. No need to spend 11k when you can get a great vehicle for 6-7k, maybe less just depends on what you come across. Im so glad to hear you guys got you grandpop his money back, that is shady... I would have been fired up too... One thing about timing belts.. i hate interference motors, never again will i own one. The last car i had was an Eagle Talon and i snapped a timing belt on it. It had less then 40k on the belt too. Needless to say, the motor self destructed in a matter of seconds. Cost me a little over a grand for a new motor, so i was glad to get rid of that car when i did.
  14. Ahhhh. We there's only 1 of you, sell off all your cars and get 1 that will do it all
  15. Im sure u know better then getting a mustang LOL. Any one of my pickups would smoke that old bugger. hahahha Then when it snows... your STUCK ! I had a mustang once, never again. It even had about 4k in motor work done, just so it could actually be kinda fast.
  16. Xterra are nice rides ! I said Tacoma but i meant Nissan Frontier. There are super nice like a car and pickup all in one.
  17. I'd go for a Tacoma 4x4 i think is what they are. The 4 door trukz with like a 4ft bed. SUV/Pickup all in one.
  18. Welp, 6ish years ago i dropped out of school to take over the family business. I started out with a beat 1992 caravan that i took the seats out of and made it my work truck. I never in a million years thought i would come so far so fast, but today i added my third pickup to the line up. Ford F150 that i got for an absolute STEAL i tell yea. Guy was out of work for months and needed money so i lowballed him with 3k cash in his face, and he couldnt say no. Im not so fond of the non-matching camper shell but it will work for now. the other truck is a cummings diesel 2500 and a 89 chevy 1500 with aftermarket trans and motor. had the motor built for me for 4k and put in all new parts to go with it. This was about 3 months ago, new headers, exhausts, water pump, wirings, radiator, etc. Basically made an old truck run better then new. ONly reused the alternator. Here the motor i put in the chevy, its a 383 Stroker custom built, 0 miles and is almost due up for its first oil change now. The chevy pushed an 8 foot Meyer hydraulic plow in the snow, so all that power will be put to good use.
  19. Oh yea ! 1.99 here too, this is pimp.
  20. Nice. my arms are 15 when flexed but im a small guy by nature. I wrestled 103lbs for 3 years in high school. Im up to 142lbs now at 5feet 10in at 26years old. When i started lifting a 3 maybe 4 months ago now i was at like 125-128lbs. Target weight is another 15 lbs on the chest arms and back. Ill keep that in mind if i stop making gains. Fortunately for me, i've never had a problem with fat. I eat 2k calories on off days and closer to 3000 on workout days and can't tell that ive put on any sloppy weight yet. I should add chest fly's into my workout if they are giving you good gains. I've heard keeping your skin moisturized and with vitamin E will help keep the stretch marks to a minimum. So far i don't have any and i've put on some good weight in a short time. About diet i hear you. When i first started back working out i ate fast food for every meal. Now i eat almost exclusively at home. I used to be addicted to some drugs that i kicked too, and that also brought back my motivation to live a better life including eating more and better. That alone probably has something to do with the quick gains i saw in the first 2 months.
  21. my last post in here was sep 5. Its now Oct 24, im up 5 lbs, gained another 1inch on my arms. I am up to 6 sets of 5 pullups with alternating grips mixed with elevated feet pushups on the 15-14-13-12....to 1, then 1, 2 , 3, 4, .... back up to 15 Depending on the day i will do like 5 sets of 8or10 dips. I rest as little as possible during my workout so that my arms are warm and the heartrate stays up. I try to burn through everything quickly and controlled. I've been playing around with this for a few montsh now and it seems to be working for me. I can rattle out the dips, pushups, and pullups in less then 30mins and im dead beat tired. If i could show what this simple workout has done to my bod in a short amount of time you wouldn't believe it. I only gained 12-15lbs but it's all in my arms and back. I do all of the reps slow down, slow up, squeezin the muscles i am working. So not only has this given me more mass in places i wanted, it's cut-up looking mass. I dont mess with many free weights but do have some. My heaviest dumbells is 40lbs and i can curl that 8-9 times per arm. I picked up a 45lb and could curl that 5 times beore exhausion. To put it in perspective, 3 months ago i bought 20lb'ers and started with the going 8-9 per arm at 5 sets. So in a realitively short amount of time my actual strenght gains are fairly impressive. To myself atleast. I never though a smaller guy like myself would be curling 140lbs on a straight bar so quickly. I rest 4 days a week and murder my muscles mon-wed-fre. I also drink IsoMass shakes eveyday + a multi vitamin. Gotta eat good, and burn those muscles up when your working out. I try not to even take any breaks between things. Just go go go. All slow controlled motions while lifting, not pushing through your reps as fast as possible is working great for me. I actually have muscualr arms now days instead of spagetti strings. If i wear a wife beater or cutoff shirt to work, i def notice that other people notice too.
