  1. Hey Thanks everyone. I guess that did it. no more problems after that.
  2. I kept getting dropped from the server today on map c1m3. First time have seen this and I have made no changes on my end that I am aware of any ideas??? Here is the text. Server is enforcing consistency for this file: File left4dead2_dlc3/pak01_dir.vpk is not allowed to be modified. FCVAR_SERVER_CAN_EXECUTE prevented server running command: unpause FCVAR_SERVER_CAN_EXECUTE prevented server running command: gameui_allowescapetoshow FCVAR_SERVER_CAN_EXECUTE prevented server running command: setpause BinkOpen( c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\media\l4d2_background03.bik )

I'd probably have kicked B. In retrospect I agree, however we were wrestling with the fact that, at that moment, this person may not have actually broken any rules per se. What this person did was kind of a grey area and if we would've kicked this person for that, at least one of us would be in the forums defending ourselves, because player B's diaper got wet over being kicked for kind of not really doing anything wrong. It was just in poor taste and most of us would not want to be treated that way, even player B. I personally think it's always better in every aspect of ones life to just go around being nice to people. I don't think we need a thousand new rules, because it's counter productive to having fun, but it is an interesting discussion. I know when I am in spec (from the 1st day I have played here as a member) if it was unclear who was hear first I would always let the other person go first. If I accidentally pinched a spot, I would apologize and go back to spec and let that person in. If I texted the person several times and they don't move into the spot (cause they are afk or something) I go ahead and jump in. There my 2 cents is spent

Was present at the time. All members and it went down the way Mercman said it did. We asked player B to go spec and let player A in, because they had been waiting through two maps and player B just wouldn't. Player A was very gracious and didn't make a fuss, but I thought it was pretty inconsiderate of player B.
  6. Paintball. The game was still in play. Players were still up or capable of being helped up, and you were half a map away. I don't have a problem with rushing as a tactic. Other teams members were complaining they had a rusher and you weren't even a main. I found the rusher and asked the other two admins on your team if they wanted their rusher kicked and they said yes, so I did. I only put the ban up for an hour so you can probably get back in now if you wish. The protocol we have always used for rushing is to ask the rest of the team if you should rush and with their blessing go ahead and do so. When anyone rushes without the teams blessing (because it causes all kinds of problems) it will get you temporarily kicked. I hope this clears things up. If you feel it's time to rush in the future, please run it by your team first.
  7. Well that's kind of the setup now. If an admin is on you bring problems to their attention. If an admin is not on you have the option to votekick that person.
  8. The kick "privilege" is given to members so that they may police themselves when an admin is not present. If you have a serious problem with a player and you just kick them they can come back into the game in a matter of minutes. When an admin is on and playing, it is difficult to keep track of themselves + 21 other people. So when you have a problem the best thing to do is say something to the admin in game so that they can take care of it properly and to the extent it needs to be. I have noticed players sometimes starting kick votes for skill etc. That doesn't warrant a ban or a kick from the server. I have had times when, something wasn't apparent to me and they just start throwing kick votes out there, and then I have to talk to the players and/or go to spec to deal w/ it. Another potential problem is with that is if that person starts complaining on the forums about being kicked, there is no explanation as to what happened. When a admin ban happens there is accountability and explanations logged for the action. In a severe infraction a ban may be permanent and that person probably will not be back to cause more problems if that is the case. It's been my experience that if someone is really causing a problem in the server all the admins I play with do not hesitate for a second to ban someone. If you check sourcebans you will find that people are banned all day long everyday by every admin. I know for a fact that before I was an admin and was having a problem, I would simply tell the admin over voice what was going on and they would take care of it. I believe nowadays it's gotten better, because we have more admins, often one on each team. We often watch out for each other and if there is a problem, we are pretty good at taking care of it. You may have had an isolated case Gummy, but it has not been my experience in general. I realize that the members are often times just trying to help out by helping police the server and I personally appreciate it, but as Biggs noted, you do want to have a record of it so we can keep track of trouble makers.
  9. Something strange happened on the L4D2 server tonight. This player was connecting and disconnecting multiple times in quick succession. I don't know if he/she was trying to hack the server or it was some other connection problem. I put this person's ban as permanent just as a precaution unless someone comes up with a better explanation. I left detailed info on sourcebans. Banned on 09-06-13 at 21:41.
  10. I agree with the second part of Dude's statement.
  11. I remember the last time we updated the server..........................
  12. I sent him a message on this matter. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 zero [GC]: Hey poutch. I thought you should be aware of this thread. zero [GC]: http://gamerscoaliti...for-30-minutes/ zero [GC]: just for your info. zero [GC]: You may want to respond or explain so you can play in the server. Haven't heard anything.
  13. Hmmm. I must apologize I don't recall this incident. It appears he was permanently banned on 8-10-13 at 16:56 for griefing, but do not know if I did it or not. It appears he has a history, there are two other banning incidents. One on 7-24-11 for rushing and one on 08-04-13 also for rushing. I understand there may be a language barrier, but this person is repeatedly kicked for much of the same behavior.
  14. Just my two cents, but if someone rushes for it and his/her fellow team members object, the admin in game will handle it. If the team members don't object they will get as far as they can. If I am on the infected team. IT'S NONE OF MY BUSINESS EITHER WAY. The point is to win by any means necessary with in the constructs of the game and rushing is one of many strategies as long as that team (not the enemy team) agrees to use that strategy. I get angry when yoshi does it to me too, cause I wanted to kill him, but that's also part of the game. When we get to a finale and the scores are so far apart that there is no chance of the other team winning sometimes an admin will ask we can have some fun with it. If no one objects anything can happen as long no one objects and if you had objected I am sure tainted would've kept it all vanilla for you. It's a game people the point is to have fun. I know it can get competitive, myself included. If what tainted and what the other team did, did not affect the outcome of the game and nobody objected, what's the problem?
  15. Only if you are part of the human race.........................................
  16. You were banned for your behavior on this specific occasion, for repeatedly breaking rules you were well aware of regardless of what name you use. I gave all of the rope you could ask for and you hung yourself with it.
  17. Ok I will try this again from a keyboard. Last night we were playing the finale on death toll I believe and in comes AMIT / LDiablo. Several people commented that they thought this person had been banned from the server. I was ignorant of the circumstances so after the finale, we started a new map (no mercy I think). I immediately put myself into spec to see what was going on. I was in chat with Admins, Board Members, and the forums to find out what was going on. It appeared that either Amit and LDiablo were either the same person, LDiablo / Amit created a new steam ID and bought another copy of L4D, or or one was using another's account. While researching this information I received a PM from Black Yoshi stating that Amit / LDiablo was in game swearing, being belligerent to his teammates. Now first off as an admin I am not going to ban or kick anyone just because another player wants me too, however I have been playing with some of you for months or years. When a player I respect makes those types of indictments I am gonna look into it and make the most informed decision that I can at that moment. I immediately went back into my gaming window and just listened and watched for about two minutes. In those two minutes I could hear Amit / LDiablo swearing on mic, being disrespectful to his teammates and borderline griefing. On those circumstances alone I decided to ban him. In addition to the fact, but beside the point, it sounds as if this player tried to illegitimately return to the game server or hijack someone else's ID at best. I don't take banning lightly. I understand new people sometimes are ignorant of the rules in our server, and I will patiently correct a new person who is breaking them so long as they take steps to comply with our rules of the server. This is not the case with this player. They were aware of the rules and they broke several of them, several times. I noticed members were asking him to stop nicely and he made no attempts to comply. This ruins the game for both sides and we come here because we enjoy the server and the people in it.
  18. I'm pretty much over that, but i still hope it doesn't become a thing on the server. Dude you may want to bind peanut to the ban script. It will save you TONS of typing.
  19. Hmmm. I am on the fence on this one. Symbols can have different meanings to different people. The swastika was a sign of well being or in a state of higher being or enlightenment prior to WW2 for thousands of years. Because of that terrible time in history it can be offensive to some people, but it shouldn't. I think it is a matter of context. The lightning bolts could be just that lightning bolts. The skull and crossbones could be a pirate reference. At any rate all those symbols are dead peoples baggage we should quit carrying it. The SS is gone, Nazi Germany is gone, and so are pirates a LONG time ago in fact. Unfortunately these things can be very subjective. If this person had a star or a cross or crescent moon on each side of their name would that have been equally offensive. Probably not. If I had the name Nero, no one would get upset, even though that guy was responsible for a lot atrocities in his own time. He used to burn Christians in his garden at night for lighting purposes. IMHO as long as the person isn't using crude language in his/her name which kind of goes against the swearing rule we shouldn't look too deep into it. I suppose if the guy was talking / texting a lot of hate or just being an a-hole in general. That would be reason enough to ban them, because they are ruining the game for everyone, but their gaming handle...............? I don't know. I don't have a dog in this fight I would just like to keep these things in perspective. I don't even totally disagree with my friend Mercman, just trying to play devils advocate. (p.s. I don't really advocate for the devil, just an expression.)
  20. I will play either way, but I like the idea of all players being mains.
  21. the ending made me laugh out loud LOL . That was pretty cool Maestro.
  22. I had way too much time on my hands. I am paying for it today. I think I am gonna go have a coma now.
  23. I don't believe this to be a coincidence.
