you can do a search by the chip number on the mainboard at www.drivers.com if you get stuck, but more than likely you won't need to install anything for the motherboard. also a little program called wcpu330.exe is a free download at http://www.uni-weimar.de/~richte10/hardware_eng.html and it tells you all the info about the cpu, motherboard and memory. good luck bro

I bought one of those airflow mice and it sucked. When the fan was running it would stop responding sometimes so I had to shut off the fan and unplug/replug in to get it to work again so I went back to my regular corless mouseman

Prior to doing the install find out what hardware is on the PC and download the XP drivers to a folder. You will prolly notice video, sound and printers are most of the problem but make sure to get the modem or LAN drivers (depending on how they have internet) so if you do need to DL something you have the ability to connect to the net. It may go without a hitch but I always prefer safe to sorry. Usually the biggest issue I have had with the upgrade is if I fail to aquire drivers prior to the install but XP is pretty good with chipsets and video.

Is it coting, crusting or covering is the real question to ask lol. I fixed a guys PC that when I opened it up it was actually FULL!! no joke there was a small space around his CPU fan but that was it I dumped it out and told him to clean his dang basement or I wouldn't fix it again lol (It was 3 years old and he never turned it off.

not sure what to tell ya except trying to install a different vid card preferably an ati or other non-nvidia card and then try uninstalling all the Nvidia drivers and software. I would even spen some time searching for the stow away files that uninstalls leave behind. I believe someone here once pointed me to a program that was made specifically to remove all the old video card files. After you do this (btw don't install drivers for the ATI (or whatever) card) remove the card and try putting your nvidia card back in and then retry installing the newest drivers. If this doesn't work I would have to say your card or your port is bad or best case you need to reinstall windows.

That was pretty much my question too, I'm gonna give it a try as soon as I find all the drivers.

WEll mine is only good because I helped out enough people for a little cash that I was able to piece it together little by little.

reinstalled from your CD or the newest ones from the Nvidia site? The newer ones may help.

I haven't installed it yet, but it is a stand alone set-up. I'm not sure what will occur by copying over the current windows deal so I'm waiting a little while to make sure I have all my drivers and stuff up to date and 64 bit drivers downloaded and ready to install. My main worry is a Bible program that is a nightmare to reinstall, other than that it's only a matter of updating junk and I plan to do my reinstall over at my brother's or sister's house so I can make use of thier broadband internet. If you can't reformat and lose everything never try to upgrade your OS because you just never know what can happen. I lost everything in an upgrade once because of a smudge on the cd. I keep an external HDD just for this reason.

I just finished the 2 week download of windows xp (on 56k lol) and I am going to give it a try. I was just wondering who here has tried the w2k3sp1_1289_usa_x64fre_pro.iso. If you have given it a go let me know what kind of bugs, problems or issues large or small you have found. I don't plan on doing the install till next week but I wanted as much info as possible when I did. Thanks

I was wondering if anyone else had trouble with the newest driver pack, my catalyst control center isn't opening for some reason

I have the amd 64 and have sp2 installed with no problems and as a matter of fact I reinstalled an old game called system shock 2 that didn't work with anything after windows ME and it works!!! Also Thief 2 works again also. when it happens again reboot immediately and go to your bios and check what the cpu and MB temp are running at. I had heat problems last year and had the exact same issue with my video. Now my PC is cool and if I add just one more fan it will hover above my desk lol
