  1. For our art fundamental class we were given an open project about the body to be done in 5 weeks. So I went with an illustration composed of parts inside of the body. This is more on the microscopic level. So I just copied out photographs from medical books, and then added my own twist to it. The inspiration for this came from a designer called Joshua Davis and a commision he had for BMW as well as modern illustration. The final project was printed 22"x30" on glossy paper *drool* Body Project

  3. Hey all, It's been a while since I've posted, but I've been doing a bit of reading lately and noticed that nobody has posted anything in here in such a long time. C'mon, let's see some stuff! He's a couple from a shoot I did on the weekend.(HDR at owners request) 1) 2) 3) 4) Hope you enjoy! -George
  4. My boss and another guy I work with have both been freelance photographers since they were in high school and they are really getting me into it. I went out for my first day of photography last weekend and took about 500+ shots in a few hours (digital photography rules). Out of those shots I got a couple that I really liked...thought I'd show em off here: http://www.photo.net/photos/iammrwright
  5. i'm not sure what any of the means, but it looks cool. http://www.dslreports.com/r0/download/1057...ersaturated.jpg
  6. My sister is big into photography right now and she put this together of the lake we stay at in Maine every year. I think it came out quite good. cant get it to show up any bigger... hmm.
  7. http://www.deviantart.com/view/34314242/ Saw some official art for the new Megaman ZX game for DS. Liked the two character designs that are supposed to be rivals of the main characters. So I made a wallpaper with them. Hooray.
  8. Greets my friends of gc. I love you guys. So i took my photoshop skills to something a bit more serious, so i shall begin the thread with a bit o' backstory. My Mothers senior picture day she took a great photograph. But due to my family being poor back in the day, they only could afford a single 8x10 print. About 2 weeks later my moms father in a drunken rage destroyed the photograph by burning it, throwing it into a corner, and doing a real number on the only copy to ever exist. Below is a picture of the photograph after it was ruined - you can see some of the burning and other damage/discoloration plaguing the picture. (warning - large image) The photo was pretty ruined - my grandmother tried some home remedies to 'fix' the problem, including nailpolish remover and some other stuff but generally the picture was 'done' by this point. 2006 comes along and my grandmother shows me the photograph.. and i decide to take it as a project and retouch it up, fix it up as best i could, and mail it to my mom as a mothers day gift - the project was just recently completed, so i figured i'd show everyone my work! Here is a copy of the redone photograph after my touch-up work. As you can see, there are a lot of changes, some minor and others major - a lot of the simple scratches and such were removed entirely, the necklace is gone and some areas that were so heavily damaged i had to basically 'paint' over.. this was a very fun project and also quite challenging, but i thought i'd post it to see what y'all think! If anyone has any ruined photographs that need touched up - get into contact with me and i might be able to help you Also, i have uploaded the 'hi-res' versions of the pictures, if anyone wants to look at the really big versions: http://kwix.shackspace.com/mom/MothersProjectfin2.JPG (new version) http://kwix.shackspace.com/mom/MothersProjectfin3.JPG (old version) Yay.. any comments?
  9. This is one of my early attempts at logo design. Its political in reference to the G8 event that happens yearly. Well this year its in St Petersburg, Russia. So the idea was a political twist called G9 Logo. I was thinking of unifying the text a little more and maybe changing the 'D' in 'Leningrad' The exclamation mark is there in place of a trademark and I was thinking of adding it to work like a signature.
  10. So I know no one else has posted anything like this.. but this was the first piece ever I made in Jewelry and Metal Art class, made it about two weeks ago and I'm proud of it. Sorry if the picture isn't the best quality, my scanner is terrible. The earrings are shinier and started out as matte sheet metal pieces of nickel silver.
  11. I just picked up a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2, 5mp camera on closeout for 150 bucks!! The most impressive thing about it to me is the start time, you hit the button, and youre taking pics in about 3 seconds, shuts down just as fast! Also has a decent sized lens for a compact, with 6x optical zoom, plus image stabilization!! Watch the tool time topic for upcoming shots of my carpentry work!!
  12. Here's one of my first few attempts at HDR Imaging. I'm having lots of fun with this, but still learning. Lemme know what you think. -George
  13. I just got this in the mail today. Took forever for Dell to ship it. You can see a review here: http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/sony/dsc...iew/index.shtml
  14. A nice site on some basic tips, etc. http://www.webmonkey.com/webmonkey/06/14/i....html?tw=design
  15. Hey, Let me know what you guys think of this one. All input is welcome, postive or negitive. . Thanks! -George
  16. Its amazing how if you know the right buttons to push in PhotoShop, you can make a dull image much more appealing. I've been spending some time on the Fred Miranda site (linked in our sticky topic up there) and posting some images for critiqueing as well as figuring out what I like from other people's images. There are some really good photographers that post there. I posted a set out of the pictures I took of my family the other day and a fella responded with some PS actions and little tips that will help liven up my those shots. I originally thought they were pretty good. But seeing them next to some of these other guys' stuff made me realize they were a bit flat and lacking in the lighting department. Anyway, so I've been messing with some of his tips on other photos and what not. Here is the result of one I've been playing with. Before After
  17. I know nothing of digital cameras. I have always wanted one and I want one that will take nice pictures and will be considered "ok" for the next few years. My boss (who is an amatuer photographer with 11 cameras some valued up to $6,000) has offered to sell me his SD400 with leather case and 512mb SD card and a few other things...he said he'd sell it to me for $220.00. Is that worth it? reference: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007TJ5O...5Fencoding=UTF8
  18. LINKY Teehee I thought it was time to let everyone know.
  19. Was just reading an article on 'inspiration'. Click It! It discusses ideas and reactions to it and has input from people in art, music and film. Personally I find inspiration from researching and viewing art and design. I also find muisc very powerful source. The only inspiration from my min wage job comes from anger and in its rareity a good day. Being near the lake is nice too. Getting wired before bed on work or coffee works too. But now and then you get those ideas from some knee-jerk reaction. '...I agree with Thomas Edison: he said it's 99 per cent perspiration and 1 per cent inspiration. Basically if you put in the time focusing on your work, there's a chance inspiration will strike.'
  20. This fall / winter I'm planning on rebuilding my bass boat. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about painting. I'm gonna use a air gun and i want to get some metal flake paint but no idea what to do. And is there any kind of tape I can use that wont take paint off? Any websites or information would help. All I know is what I have seen on orange county choppers rofl.

  22. Gonna break these up into two threads. I took probably 700 pictures. These 8 I consider to be the best from the trip from an artistic standpoint. I will post many many more pics in the chit chat forums either later tonight or tomorrow for a more informational type thread. So, let me know what you think of these. 1)I did some experimenting with filters and this one for some reason I really liked. 2)Delicate Arch - The most famous of them all 3)One of the courthouse towers (I think) 4)This was at the entrance to Devil's Garden - Landscape arch is in here.
  23. The fam and I are headed to Moab, UT for the weekend. Should get some great photo ops here: Arches National Park and here: Canyonlands National Park
  24. Wife works both days this weekend. Had a hankerin to shoot something. So I set up my impromtu photo studio in the dining room and shot some pics of my favorite subject; my daughter. I got a few decent ones before she got tired of it. If you've ever tried to shoot portraits of kids you know the routine. Anyway, this first one is one I really like. Did a tiny adjustment with levels and then blurred the background (my sheet I hang up and some creases in it. This one was just for some fun. I couldn't get her to do what I wanted her to. So I gave her my sunglasses and just let her play.
  25. I did some messing around in photoshop with the sky. A couple of copies and overlays (I forget the actual action atm) and put them at 50% to try to bring out the definition in the clouds. In the process I think you can see a bit too much of the transition of subjects to sky. Never the less, I really like this picture. I've got a few more I'm searching for.......
