mrX October 15, 2004 Share mrX GC Alumni October 15, 2004 For those that might wanna squeek every last ounce of performance outta their computers while playing games: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_desc...id,23852,00.asp This is a batch file that stops them. I just put it on the desktop and double-click and it seems to work just fine.
appalachian_fox October 15, 2004 Share appalachian_fox Member October 15, 2004 Nice. I usually go through the services when I install Windows on a system, but if this batch turns off additional services that are handy but not of use to gaming, that'd be great. W00t. dwEEziL October 15, 2004 Share dwEEziL Member October 15, 2004 (edited) This has been posted in other tweak guides pinned here but here is a website you can go to that lists the W2k and XP services, short descriptions, and their dependencies. Look at the left menu under "Features" and never mind the mullet. http://www.blackviper.com/ Edited October 18, 2004 by dwEEziL

Camel_Man October 18, 2004 Share Camel_Man Member October 18, 2004 i remember mentioning the blackviper site somewhere around here a long time ago. its great because it gives you complete descriptions of services and their dependencies on other services. the site also shows you how to make a batch file to disable selected services.
