gOOters October 21, 2005 Share gOOters Member October 21, 2005 My buddy's comp went to sleep and now it wont wake up. Even after unplugging, when he plugs it back in and hits the power button, he just gets the amber "sleep" light. Thoughts? I haven't been over there yet to tinker with it. Preacher October 22, 2005 Share Preacher Member October 22, 2005 (edited) well more info is needed, does it post to bios? Does it recognise the hard drive? Does it show the windows start-up screen? If it doesn't post to bios it's prolly got motherboard, cpu, power supply or video problems. If it posts to bios but doesn't fing the hard drive then well hard drive problem, if it goes to windows start page or stops and says something like missing nt.ldr file then it's a corrupt windows and needs a repair or a complete reinstall. VooDooPC October 22, 2005 Share VooDooPC Member October 22, 2005 If you flip the little red switch on the power supply i know it can cause this. But i don't think its your problem becuase you would remember if you did that.
Guest zerodamage October 22, 2005 Share Guest zerodamage Guests October 22, 2005 Sounds like a dead PSU to me. That would be the first thing I would test anyway.
Preacher October 22, 2005 Share Preacher Member October 22, 2005 (edited) yeah I usually test in order: PSU, CPU, VIDEO CARD, then RAM and if it's still not working it's a motherboard issue. or save time and buy this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...7863&CatId=1223 or this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...8338&CatId=1279 Edited October 22, 2005 by Preacher

MrDuke October 22, 2005 Share MrDuke Member October 22, 2005 That's exactly what happened to me at minute one of FragFest. It was the PSU.
