VooDooPC November 8, 2005 Share VooDooPC Member November 8, 2005 (edited) Does it automatically start when I adopt it or do I need to hit a button somewhere while I am constructing buildings/units? Edited November 8, 2005 by VooDooPC
ScubaDan November 8, 2005 Share ScubaDan Member November 8, 2005 You have to tell it to hurry production. At the bottom of the city screen, just to the right of the window where the units/buildings that are available to be built are shown, there are a bunch of buttons. One of the two buttons on the top is the hurry production button.

ScubaDan November 8, 2005 Share ScubaDan Member November 8, 2005 Yes, I miss it to. I also miss not being able to change production directly from the city adviser screen and not being able to upgrade all units of a particular kind from the military adviser screen. I want to lower the population of my city, so people don't get so mad. Will slavery do it? Is there any other way?

You can also stop growth for a while so your city won't expand until you get a chance to build some buildings that will improve happiness. Or I think you can also use negative growth ( starvation ) to reduce the population.
Brillow_Head November 8, 2005 Share Brillow_Head Member November 8, 2005 Personally, I'd draft into the military from the larger cities. Lower population and bigger military in one shot
ScubaDan November 8, 2005 Share ScubaDan Member November 8, 2005 I've only ever used the draft when I needed urgent help in a city that was about to fall, but using it in this situation looks like a good idea! Thanks Brillow!

Brillow_Head November 8, 2005 Share Brillow_Head Member November 8, 2005 I think you need to have one of your governmental civs so you can draft. I'd have to look again.
VooDooPC November 8, 2005 Share VooDooPC Member November 8, 2005 I haven't played much into the later dates. My civilization usually falls apart before then.
ScubaDan November 8, 2005 Share ScubaDan Member November 8, 2005 There are definitely one or two civics that allow the draft, Police State being one of them. It lets you draft four units per turn, and I believe that is four over your entire civ/turn, not four per city per turn.
Brillow_Head November 8, 2005 Share Brillow_Head Member November 8, 2005 (edited) VooDoo, be sure to focus on building city buildings or improvements that give + or the red cross symbols. Also, build wonders that increase the amount of happiness in each city, I think there is one or two that do this. The only way to keep citizens happy is to force them to be happy. Also, constant warfare with will make make your peeps unhappy as well. Edited November 8, 2005 by Brillow_Head
VooDooPC November 8, 2005 Share VooDooPC Member November 8, 2005 (edited) Hereditary was working pretty well for me last time i played. + per military unit in a city. It gets better later i think, theres maybe nationalism, i think that adds +2 per military unit. Edited November 8, 2005 by VooDooPC
ScubaDan November 9, 2005 Share ScubaDan Member November 9, 2005 Brillow, are you hosting this game? If so we need your IP. Also, I don't know if CIV IV has voice, so maybe we could use Teamspeak if not?
