Guest a2g-Sam December 10, 2005 Share Guest a2g-Sam Guests December 10, 2005 Hi Guys, My name is Sam Weis with Aim2Game. Im not sure how brief I can keep this post but I will try to keep it reasonably to the point on past, current, and future issues related to our chicago provider. Past: For those of you who are not familiar with Aim2Game, our goals are very simple as a GSP and one of our top priorities is to provide quality bandwidth and servers to the gaming community. We choose providers that are exceptional for their area Which led us to our current provider. The blend they offer is phenomenal with ATT and Level 3 as the big named carriers. Savvis and nLayer are in the blend also on specific routes. Current: There have been two issues recently in our central locations that have driven us nuts. Our provider in Dallas did not take reasonable steps to remedy a networking issue in a timely manner. We since have severed our ties and have signed with a phenomenal provider in Dallas. The second is loss with our Chicago provider. We believed Chicago was an issue related to an expansion effectively doubling the capacity of our current provider, which is exceptional. We also had assumed the issues would last just a few days as new networking equipment was added and network engineers performed their duties. After a series of very frustrating support requests were not answered to our satisfaction, a more pointed support request was lodged. The shortened version of the problem we all are experiencing is our provider has an issue with their core router. They had assumed the issue was a level 3 problem since originally it was line specific. As luck has it the equipment to handle their huge expansion came in and a few pieces of key equipment turned out to be the wrong items. Currently there is a temporary fix in place that is hardly adequate. Future: We are faced with a situation that leaves us baffled to say the least. While our provider has always delivered what they promised, it has come late each time causing us (and our customers) major problems. Chicago is a very touchy place, as most of you know, for connectivity to begin with. We have tested others and have not been impressed. We have been in touch with other bandwidth providers and even though we have committed to ride this problem through, we will not hesitate to move to a new bandwidth provider. We simply love the dedication and situation of our current providers. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Its justa matter of getting there. A temporary fix should be in place now and the permanent solution will be completed as soon as the correct equipment is delivered. To sum it up, as your GSP, I fully accept and take responsibility for the issues you have been experiencing lately. We are in constant contact with our providers and they know the level of our frustration. We will keep our gamers in mind first and do what we believe is the right thing for them including a very costly move or a new cross connect to another bandwidth provider. (Please forgive me for the length of this post. I guess it wasnt too short after all) My Best, Sam Weis Aim2Game
