Xoul March 28, 2006 Share Xoul Member March 28, 2006 Anyone ever try any internet boosting software. To me it seems unrealistic... anyone know a good one to try?
mookie March 28, 2006 Share mookie GC Alumni March 28, 2006 If I understand right all that is really doing is preloading documents. I.E. when your browser is done retrieving a webpage it starts to automatically request all pages that page links to.
pavid March 28, 2006 Share pavid Member March 28, 2006 Everything I've read suggests they are really only useful to dial-up accounts. As Mookie said, they preload stuff. I believe they also fool around with the hosts files and cache at lot of stuff locally. My take on them is that in general they are not worth the money. Guest zerodamage March 28, 2006 Share Guest zerodamage Guests March 28, 2006 Many of them have bundled spyware/malware as well. I've seen many people using those memory optimizers which are almost always spyware/malware these days as are pop-up blockers. Should not need a pop-up blocker with firefox and the google toolbar for IE. XP doesn't need a RAM booster type of app.
