This will be the one public topic to discuss the server changes for this month.

As you've noticed, the following changes have taken place:

Recrudescence is now at 208.100.9.88:27015

Project Mayhem is now at 208.100.9.89:27015

We have rented and are testing a dedicated server of our own. This server is on the same network as our current Chicago servers, the only difference is that we are renting our own box.

Questions and feedback here please.

That's probably a good thing....although I can do a pingplot to that IP just fine?

I can also run a dos tracert just fine:

My ping seems to be ok at the moment, though yesterday the new server had me over 100 and the old had be at the typical 50-60. Could have been a config thing that has since been worked out. I will post again if it comes up again. (None of my other list of servers had me spiking, so it was not me)

I'll post that up as soon as I get pingplotter thingy back on my PC... how knew I'd bee using it this much.

Every thing ran pretty smooth in game... but when the map changed on me after dust1 when I played... mr.duke and Shazz around 9 something. CS:S froze loading the next map. So I had to close it out and reopen it.

That's the only issue that I ran into other then that every thing was cool.

ZD's traces show a nice network change for us.....dropping 3 different hops in there (and 20 ms?). Ebil's loses 1 hop.

ZD you seem to be dropping a lot of packets if I'm seeing those *'s correctly?

I'm at work, so I'll post my traceroutes tonight.

I have Sympatico Ultra BTW. It does route differently than the regular and high speed packages.

Sometimes for worse, sometimes for better.

I remember on a few of the match servers we played on for CAL, you pinged 20 less than me. :P

plz tell me you arent complaining about a 35 ping :)

The point is that this new server has only increased ping, not improved it. At best, people claim it's "the same," yet I doubt they actually took the time to compair the old and new servers.

Now may I ask, why the change? Money saver?

It does not make sense to change over.

igloo, i'm on basic now (because basic has been upgraded to 1meg) but i'm still on the fast path. i just sync at 1184/640 because that's the best i can get.

yomamma, i agree and would like that question answered as well. i understand if it's money but the server we had was about as good as i've played on. i'd like to add that the servers for mcc are awesome.

forget about the ping, how does it play? if it plays the same, the ping is just a #

i wouldn't be posting if i was happy with the way it played. ping affects accuracy and registration both of which are not as good. i've not played on a server as good as gc and the mcc servers have been recently.

forget about how it plays. why mess with a great thing?
