Sid September 7, 2006 Share Sid Member September 7, 2006 I bought a sound card so that I could get around the problems I was having with my on board audio. I disabled the on board through windows shut down my comp put in the sound card, rebooted and installed the drivers. After restarting again I can't hear anything out of the sound card. I checked the connections and they are in the right jacks. I bought the crative sound blaster live 24-bit. Help please!!!
anonymo September 7, 2006 Share anonymo Member September 7, 2006 Go into your control panel>sounds and audio devices>Audio and you should see three fields: Playback; Recording; MidiMusic Playback. What you want to make sure is that Playback is set to the sound card that you just installed.

Laz.e.rus September 7, 2006 Share Laz.e.rus Member September 7, 2006 you disabled the on-board sound through windows, but you need to disable it in your MBs bios before startup.

MrDuke September 7, 2006 Share MrDuke Member September 7, 2006 lol! I'm having a similar problem with a new card I bought for my daughter's PC. I got frustrated and haven't gone back to it yet. My next thought was to play with the IRQ settings. Is that the next step here?

Sid September 7, 2006 Author Share Sid Member September 7, 2006 honestly cujo with all the driver issues and random system crashes that I have been getting, I really should just F-disc. I think I will do it tomorrow, I have the day off. I'm thinking the easiest way would be to do a fresh install on a new harddrive and just port all my files I want to keep via a usb hardrive case. Unless I my mobo suppports multiple hard drives. How do I check for this? Cause then i could do a fresh install on the new hard drive and just keep that old one as a warehouse for all my old files. What do you think cujo, which is easier???
Cujo September 8, 2006 Share Cujo Member September 8, 2006 either or. your mobo should be fine with 2 drives. jsut take out the old one when you format so you don't accidentally erase it.
