Magruter March 6, 2003 Share Magruter Member March 6, 2003 what i did is take that inferior stuff off, and grabed some artic silver. the quality stuff!! and put a layer of that on there. i think it's like 6.00$ a tube on newegg.com it's worth it considering you just spent 200$ on a new chip. but what you are doing is fine. Asphyxiator March 7, 2003 Share Asphyxiator Member March 7, 2003 The common misconception is the more you use the better. Just put a tiny bit on for maximum cooling.
[Mmmm]Homer March 7, 2003 Share [Mmmm]Homer Member March 7, 2003 Less = better Use isopropal alcohol to remove the cheap stuff. Use a Q-tip to apply the good stuff, less messy (make sure you don't get any fuzzies), to a CLEAN surface. No fingerprints. I've tried shims and not had any noticably improved results.
