Is there a way to set it so when you hit the 1-4 number keys it equips that weapon and you don't have to click to accept?

Try setting hud_fastswitch. That's what it is in CS:S.

Where is that? I've never tried to modify any CS:S settings. Is there a player.ini file somewhere?

I think the game directory is probably /steam/steamapps/accountname/team fortress/orangebox/tf/, could be wrong though (easily).

Inside there would be a folder cfg/, inside there might be a file config.cfg where your game setup is.

The usual way to go is go into keyboard options, click advanced and enable the console. You can type commands into the console (open it by pressing `).

I remember seeing that option in the setup somewhere. Perhaps in advanced? There were 3 options, one of which being "enable fast weapon switch". And yes, I can confirm that works for TF2 without monkeying around with your config.

Under advanced keyboard settings there's Developer Console (~) and Enable Fast Weaponswitching.

OK, how do I switch to spectator mode after I've been playing? I can't seem to get back to the team select screen.

M takes you back to the class selection

. takes you back to the lobby.

I'd say give "," a go. If that doesn't work, try putting "chooseteam" in console. If the team choice menu comes up then that's the right command and you can bind it to any key you want.

 

e.g.

] bind "," "chooseteam"
