lousiest August 13, 2009 Share lousiest Member August 13, 2009 I've always used the claw grip, and currently have the Logitech G5. Was wondering what grip and mouse others use. I think the G5's shape is better suited for palm or flat-finger grips as it's rounder. Was thinking of getting the Razer DeathAdder, which looks to better suit claw grips with its more pronounced hourglass shape.
Preacher August 13, 2009 Share Preacher Member August 13, 2009 I've used both the Logitech and Razer mice(went back to the MX518)and when I purchased my new one I went with the G5. It has a much better feel to me. It just doesn't have as cool of a name lol.

bushwack August 13, 2009 Share bushwack Member August 13, 2009 How do you guys hold your mice? I've used both mice you speak of and held them both the same. Some people put their middle finger over the wheel and use the 3rd finger to right click but I cant stand that.

lousiest August 13, 2009 Author Share lousiest Member August 13, 2009 Haha, my bad I meant, do you hold your mice in a claw-like fashion or do you rest your palm on it?

Wolfsblood August 14, 2009 Share Wolfsblood Member August 14, 2009 MX518 mouse here. I rest my hand on it, anything else and the tendinitis flares up fierce. Also use index finger for m1 and wheel, middle finger for m2 and salutes, and thumb for the thumb buttons naturally.

bushwack August 14, 2009 Share bushwack Member August 14, 2009 I have a G5, teh tilt scroll wheel was worth the extra $5 over the 518. If I had it all over to do again I would pick up a G3, the G5 still seems a little bulky to me even after several months. I tried a Razor a few years ago and took it back to the store after a couple days, for some reason it was uncomfortable as hell and I kept accidentally right clicking. I think they designed the mouse for you to put your middle finger over the wheel. Is that what your calling "the claw"?
dwEEziL August 14, 2009 Share dwEEziL Member August 14, 2009 I found this "guide" to help explain "grips" http://xeonxyh.blogspot.com/2008/08/razer-mouse-guideergonomics-guide.html and another I currently use the Razer Boomslang 2007 CE and I use the "palm" grip with index finger on M1, middle on Mwheel, ring finger on M3, thumb on M4, and, if needed, pinky on M5. lousiest August 14, 2009 Author Share lousiest Member August 14, 2009 Hmmm, so almost everyone uses the palm grip. Maybe I should change to that too.
bushwack August 14, 2009 Share bushwack Member August 14, 2009 (edited) When I had a smaller Logitech I used a cross between the 2 grip types more leaning toward the claw style. A small mouse is easy to move with your finger tips and I kinda prefer it. With a G5 or 518 you have to palm it pretty much. I went from a old 2 button 800dpi standard mouse to the G5 and my aim in shooters has not improved any, even after several months. It's all down hill from here... TheFirstMonk August 16, 2009 Share TheFirstMonk Member August 16, 2009 I use a cross between the 2 grip types like bushwack. My palm rests on the mouse, but my fingers aren't flush against it. My fingers are raised like the claw, but they are not that high off of the mouse like in that picture dweezil posted. I use a Logitech MX518 like some of the other guys here. lousiest August 24, 2009 Author Share lousiest Member August 24, 2009 Finally ended up buying the Logitech G9 since it had interchangeable grips - since I have small hands, I removed the grips and found it to be the best fit Friend of mine had the MX518. Tried it and found it to be too big for me (like my current G5). Thanks all for your feedback.
