samurai nightling March 29, 2011 Share samurai nightling Member March 29, 2011 (edited) So I have been having an issue where I keep lagging out of a minecraft server. It randomly happens at some point after ive been playing for a while, where the world cant build or keep up and then i end up disconnecting from some java error. I tried numerous things to fix it, none of which works. Resetting/disconnecting router. Shutdown/restart computer. Disable/enabling settings in my network options from google searching possible fixes. I decided to do a tracert in command prompt of the ip address and found this Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600] Copyright © 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Now i really don't know what all this means, but i have done a couple traceroutes before and I'm pretty sure I have never seen a time out. Is that the issue? Is this sole time out causing me to lag on the server to where i cant play? Anyone know? Thanks for the help.Oh and i also hadn't seen asterisks like that before either, didnt know what that meant either. Decided to do it again a few minutes later. Same results only more than 1 timeout. ZeroDamage March 29, 2011 Share ZeroDamage Member March 29, 2011 Just because you cannot ping a server or use a traceroute doesn't mean it isn't there. It more than likely means they are blocking ping requests. If you haven't already, try updating your Java to the latest version and emptying the cache. Go to your control panel, find the Java control panel app and inside you will see the settings for temporary files. I recommend you turn it off and empty it but if you do keep it on, at least clear it out.
samurai nightling March 29, 2011 Author Share samurai nightling Member March 29, 2011 (edited) Already did that and it didnt fix the problem the first time i had it. The lag outs occur randomly, I'll be playing fine for 2 hours or so, then bam, can't play, lag out, and can't rejoin because its too laggy and the world cant build fast enough. Last night when it happened and i did the trace routes you see above, i waited about an hour and did one again, and whaddya know there were no "Request Timed Out" Seeing this i tried to rejoin the server and whaddya know i was able to play again. To me this is showing that somehwere between my connection and Chicago where the server is, something is going down that I'm routing through for temporary times, and then comes back up. I don't really know, but that's what it looks like. Edit* Oh and i forgot to mention that when this happens to me, I have 3 other friends who are playing in the server still with no lag issues and no rejoin issues, so it's only my connection to it. So I know the server is still up and working fine, just not for me when it happens. Edited March 29, 2011 by samurai nightling
ZeroDamage March 30, 2011 Share ZeroDamage Member March 30, 2011 Call your ISP's tech support and let them know what is going on. Tell them you did a Traceroute and are getting major lag and timeouts at certain hops. Hopefully who you talk to isn't a complete idiot.
