Upgrading to Fiber in a couple of weeks....I'm on THE list

No its local phone company.  I'm in the sticks....even with decent grade DSL   I have bad pings to most places.  So my fiber won't be like  awesome fiber.......but  it will be awesome compared to what I have.

Do you know if it's fiber to the home or fiber to the node? Both are advertised as "fiber" but have pretty different outcomes.

As far as I know its billed as 100% fiber ( says that exactly)   and  is labeled on the internet package options as "Fiber to the home" running about 15 megs higher than I have now.

28 mbps down  3.05 up......compared to   6 down  .15 up

my ping went from 80-100 GC chicago servers  to a solid 45

 

that upload rate is 18 times faster then what I had.   Ish just got real

Curiosity, how much are you paying for your fiber optic? I have 75/75 from Verizon and I am paying a ridiculous amount of $89.99 and that is with a 2-yr contract discount.

I pay about 85   that's with a phone line and I'm in the sticks but I have no contract....for about 30 bucks more I can get 100+ mbps.

 

I'm on the 20 meg package but the installer told me I'd get closer to 30 and sure enough I get 28.    He said those paying for 10 go 15 and he's pretty sure the 100 gonna run over substantially as well
