Xoul October 3, 2003 Share Xoul Member October 3, 2003 You know, I don't know how my ISP does it. They continue to have more and more problems with connectivity... and they still have me as a customer... I guess im too lazy to switch. THEY ARE SO GREAT. I CAN'T EVEN ENJOY COUNTER-STRIKE
Gond October 3, 2003 Share Gond Member October 3, 2003 Thats a shame. I've not had many issues here with RR. Couple outages a week but they are usually only for a minute or two. Is RR new to your area? new = under a year
gOOters October 3, 2003 Share gOOters Member October 3, 2003 Man...roadrunner in San Antonio rox. The crap up here in the DFW area is marginal at best. I have been pinging up to 500 repeatedly on Trop the last two nights. I feel your pain Xoul
Mad Bean October 4, 2003 Share Mad Bean Member October 4, 2003 Xoul, my ping has been skyrocketing lately too, and I'm on NEO Roadrunner. It's tough to play when it jumps from 30 to 300. I hope they fix it soon.
White Knight October 5, 2003 Share White Knight Member October 5, 2003 My problems with Road runner is EXACTLY why I will not ever give Time Warner another dime if I can help it. When their stuff works, its great, but if you EVER have to deal with their tech service for more than figuring out how to turn your computer on, you get left with a bad taste in your mouth...and thats after you talk to 20 computers. gOOters October 5, 2003 Share gOOters Member October 5, 2003 I got on the phone with tech support today and they walked me through a few steps in DOS...we are thinking it might be the modem. I get a tech out here on Monday or Tuesday of this week! I am losing packets between my comp and the gateway...symptom is my ping will be real nice but spike up to like 200 or 300 fairly often for about 15-35 seconds. VERY frustrating for gameplay. White Knight October 5, 2003 Share White Knight Member October 5, 2003 Goot, that is the exact problem that I had with them. The ping looks like a mountain range. What the problem is, is that the node is overtaxed (if you truly have the same prob as I did). Good luck...but you're pretty much screwed.
gOOters October 5, 2003 Share gOOters Member October 5, 2003 That flew right over my noggin. Is that a hardware problem on he cable company's side? Something that I would have to wait a long time until they upgrade?
White Knight October 5, 2003 Share White Knight Member October 5, 2003 IF you have the same problem as I did (which is what I am guestimating)... It is a hardware problem on their side and will take a long time for them to fix AFTER you convince them of what it is. Good luck.
dwEEziL October 5, 2003 Share dwEEziL Member October 5, 2003 In layman's terms, the upstream connection from your computer (the pipe that connects you and your nearby RR-neighbors to the Internet) is over used. For RR to fix it, they will have to upgrade their upstream connection to a fatter pipe....mucho coinage.

White Knight October 6, 2003 Share White Knight Member October 6, 2003 Xoul, Earthlink, AOL, and Roadrunner are all the same company that uses the same network. The 'choices' you get with high speed internet access through Brighthouse (also TWC) are a farce. They are all the same company with the same services. Not different.
