Hitman April 9, 2004 Share Hitman Member April 9, 2004 Nyah ha. I didn't know you could just hit enter... I typed knoppix hehe. If the computer you're running has enough RAM (>512MB) you can type "knoppix toram" to load the whole CD into RAM and speed up load times.

Playaa April 9, 2004 Share Playaa Member April 9, 2004 so Helix is basically Knoppix with networking tools built in? I'm getting it now now I just need to start learning Linux I guess...anyone got any good information for a noob?
dwEEziL April 9, 2004 Share dwEEziL Member April 9, 2004 I have an article from Maximum PC I still need to scan in that is sort of a Primer for Beginning Linux-heads. And yeah, Helix is a customized version of Knoppix, with primarily secutriy and forensix related utilities only.

[Mmmm]Homer April 9, 2004 Author Share [Mmmm]Homer Member April 9, 2004 You're lucky Playaa, I loaded up Knoppix and it didn't recognize my on-board LAN. I just played around with it locally and then rebooted into Windows.
dwEEziL April 9, 2004 Share dwEEziL Member April 9, 2004 Oh yeah. Just to let everyone know. Helix did not recognize the on-board NIC either at first. I had to play around with the config file until I got it working. This was on a Dell Inspiron C840 laptop btw.
