auggybendoggy March 8, 2004 Share auggybendoggy Member March 8, 2004 can anyone tell me if the companies that produce the same card are made the same? like xfx, pny, chaintech, all produce a 5900 fx card. so are you getting the same thing from a diff mfg or do some companies each tweak it like overclocking. I understand you can OC a video card. Anyone know much about doing so? Auggy

[Mmmm]Homer March 8, 2004 Share [Mmmm]Homer Member March 8, 2004 If you are looking at Newegg they list the core and memory speeds, compare those. Most card manufacturers use the refernce levels of chips but occaisionally a cheaper brand will use a slightly slower ram chip. It's not often though. dwEEziL March 8, 2004 Share dwEEziL Member March 8, 2004 PowerStrip is a good utility that you can use to OC your vid card. You can also set program profiles so when you run a certain program (say CS) you can have it load the profile so that it only OC's (or adjust gamma, etc) when you are running the program. When you close the program, PowerStrip reverts back to the regular settings.
