This better? Im kinda confused with the cas latency though... it says 2.5-4-4 what is the 4-4? I know what teh 2.5 means... it means it has to wait 2.5 clock cycles... but... its really only like... 25-30% faster than cas 3.

dweez said high performace ram.

That stuff is prolly just as fast as the crucial you listed at first.

Really as long as you get name brand stuff it wont matter unless you overclock(which btw even crucial can do).

I've changed my mind slightly in my choice... The mother board is now an asus... Read some great reviews for it. even though its 50 dollars more... im sure its well worth it. And I changed my choice of ram also. It seems that this corsair was 2.5 cas, and it was cheaper than my first choice. MmmMmm here I come AMD 64.... *clicks order*

You're gonna love it, the Asus is a very nice board. It's not a 'beginner' board however. But once you get up to speed with it it's very nice. I didn't install AMD's Cool & Quiet, but I may in the future. This throttles the CPU back to 800mhz when it is idle to run coooler.

Make sure to copy the files for your SATA and/or IDE and/or RAID (you'll be confuzzled when you look at the CD-ROM and try to find the drivers) so you can hit F6 at the start of installing Windows XP.

DOUBLE CHECK your RAM choice. I recall something about Value Select RAM and A64's, not sure if it was all mobo's or just this one. Read up in this AMDmb.com thread. That is thread #5, so there are 4 before it too (linked from that thread). For $20 more that OCZ that I posted above should work, just in case.

I tried it....it works really nice and have not noticed anything bad about it. When your CPU needs the juice it will provide it, then clocks it back down. When Im idling about at 800mhz it cools the CPU down 6 degrees :)

I read about some people having issues with Cool & Quiet, some had no troubles at all. I think they troubled ones were using older BIOS's than I have. I'll install it this weekend.

You gonna bump your system up a little Wilco, the OC I did was simple. I'll push it a little harder this weekend.

Yes Im gonna give it a try...Im gonna work on it some this weekend as well.

Im looking into updating my HDD. May have some questions for you.

We should really think about setting up an IRC channel for the hardware peeps....could be fun live chatting =)
