  1. So you think we should start populating it? The only thing I can find that gets ppl into a server is already have ppl in it. Which takes effort by random ppl or the community. I will do my best.
  2. someday stutters, u will get ma jokes. someday. yea i also use wpa2-personal. no mac filtering because i just finished configuring them. With the micro ddwrt firmware, i can only telnet into it, so I dont want to have to keep adding mac addresses when I add a new host to the wifi. The whole 10k peers def. will do a number on ur linksys. prob. moreso the hardware is being pushed to it's limits rather than the firmware, you agree? Also, being that it's v8, only 2MB of flash memory, you also have the micro verison? I believe it fills up around 1.7mb of the total flash. That's awesome you!! Helping ppl out and saving $ is always a win win.
  3. You really should secure that open wifi you've got going Don't want the feds knocking on your door for something that some perv was looking at on your network lol What verision wrt54g do you have? my 54gs v7 is one of the later versions. GS meaning speed boost, which I dont use. but I only have 2MB of flash memory, hence the micro version. Not even enough room to have micro plus on it, which gives you ssh. so I set it up, locked it down, and don't play with it now. just let it do it's job while I mod my wrt54gl instead.
  4. I just got into messing with routers and am having a lot of fun modding them. I only have three routers - WRT54GS v7 - DDWRT micro WRT54GL v1.1 - Had OpenWRT 7.09, now has Tomato La Fonera+ 2201 - Had OpenWRT, plan on putting Gargoyle on it, so I can mess with Jasager (utilized Karmetasploit) Anyone else do any hacking or modding? I'm going to school for networking and when I'm done with my bachelor's degree, I want to get a master's in Network Security. So I've been setting up the routers to install tools I can play with on my network. Jasager, Karmetasploit, Kismet, Wireshark, Netstumblr are just a few I play on learning over the summer. Oh yea. I still play TF2 when I get free time (not enough to admin the old server :\)
  5. i don't have the time to switch to ext4, but maybe over the summer. I enjoy the 64 bit verison and using all 4gb of ram. i use 4 desktops with 1-3 apps open in each at times and still switching between them and having to not wait for the programs to open up is nice! I understand 64bit comes at a cost, but if we all switch to 64 bit (or if everyone wanted 64 bit apps), app developers would have no choice to create them. I'm just doing my part
  6. I've actually downloaded this when it was first posted and then printed out a hardcopy It's sitting on my desk in a binder. it's really nice to just open it up, rather than reading off PDF. Sometimes I hate doing that. Although PDF's search function is faster than me looking thru the binder sometimes. I've read about 1/2 of it so far just in my spare time. Work and school overwhelmed me this semester, so I will prob. finish it soon.
  7. I was using Intrepid 8.10 also, and did the upgrade to Jaunty 9.04. I have the 64-bit verison and I have some issues with it, but they are slowly being worked out. Overall it's awesome. It offered new vid drivers, which make compiz much smoother. My wifi drivers stayed the same, so there was no need dealing with them again. I had some issues with the Indexing tracker, just had to install a utility that lets me restart it and it was fine. 3rd party software like Adobe Reader for 64 bit is a lil behind. My only fix right now is to run it in 32 bit mode so I can read PDFs inside and outside of Firefox 3. This along with the update to Virtual Box, i'm slowly trying to migrate my work I do on the Vista partition into Ubuntu, but I have to wait until school is out to play with it. Glad to see your install went well. also, boot time is about 27 seconds for me, compared to almost a minute on 8.10. (vbox takes awhile sometimes)
  8. Cool! I added you. I have been following mostly computer security type ppl, podcasters, local news and local companies I'd like to work for.

we all live in a yellow submarine. GL on all your new endeavors lol
  10. lol you're too nice to online chat tech support ppl.
  11. Haha, it's been awhile for me. been on the vodka kick.
  12. Liquid gold goes right thru me. Stopping drinking gold ever since I knew how much it's worth. Yuengling Lager (Brewed locally) is my favorite. Miller High Life is good.
  13. cool idea, but I would rather use this for data that if lost or stolen, i'm not at a big loss. mostly reference pdfs, homework files, and some pictures.
  14. Actually if you use a referral from someone that already has dropbox, you and the referee would get an extra 250MB of free space. Up to 3GB of addition space. Here is my referral link, I'm sure some of you have it too. https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTgwMTMyOQ Thanks again for the invite! I use this on 3 pcs, 4 OSs for school related and easy tranfer of files to other ppl.
  15. letmegooglethatforyou.... that's what I see. Long URL Please Firefox addon ftw. http://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recov...htm?language=1# this might also be of some help. my first link is to software that isnt fun to use, but works when you get to understand it.
  16. It hasnt happened since bc of the snow we recently had. It prob. won't happen until the snow melts. Because it happened during the spring/summer/fall but not last winter.
  17. It is. and that seems like something I'm willing to try b4 purchasing a expensive camera. TY!
  18. I want this thing to be somewhat hidden.. so I see your idea with the cold. so I could set it up in the window facing the driveway. Then I wouldn't have to worry about an enclosure. I like the wireless idea, so I can move it around if I must. It doesnt have to be network'd. I don't care to have the ability to view online or anything. Just record to a decent sized hdd so I can quilcly review it when needed. Obviously color is a plus, but not necessary.\ Thanks for the input! What seems to be the best way to record the video onto a hdd/pc? Sorry if any of my questions are answered, ZD you were editing at the sametime as my post Also, for night vision, prob. won't be needed b/c the flood light ALWAYS comes on. I like your idea of a birdhouse, I actually have several of them made that I could modify if needed. I'm thinking of spending a lil more, only a hundred bucks seems worth it right now... I'd prob. use XP since I have a spare one. Wonder what size HDD i should get for it. Since I will be running this this for 24/7... but prob won't want to keep more than a few days worth of data.
  19. the point im getting at is, there are 4 spots in a row to park, and i'm not always parking in, for example, spot 1. Depends on who is home and who gets home first.
  20. I like that preacher. being that it's wireless. that would make it pretty nice, being that it's in a outside area. wonder if it's worth getting audio? m2, those motion sensors, wonder how far away they will respond? b/c i dont always park in the same spot.
  21. No, they won't do anything about it.. no evidence. I did contact the landlords, so they might file a complaint. I honestly think it's my neighbor.. who i truely dislike a lot!!! (i'm not typing out why, i just do, too long to do so) http://twitpic.com/tvhk here's a link of what he did. He's got a dog, who he neglects and doesnt feed all the time. The dog dug a lot of holes "escaping" but he's stupid and comes back. The owners, my neighbor, always ends up filling in the holes with stuff from my side. so a lot of times i pull the crap out of the holes and put the things back. Lately the dog has been afk. no idea where he is, hopefully a safer home. But the picture shows a pot with dirt in it, from my attempt of a garden this year. The stakes inside of it for the tomatoes are metal. The crack in my windshield that I received looks like it came from the end of one of those stakes.
  22. M2, my g/f brought that idea up, I could'nt find anything cheaper than 80 bucks. which seems a lot :\ I have a pc to sacrifice for a camera that s-video's in to and records on a big hdd.
  23. I have a motion sensor light, 2 flood lights. This "attack" happened this morning between the hours of 8am and 10am. I have a place for it already and a power supply for it (outlet)
