  1. Excellent article by Desslock in the Oct issue of PC Gamer. Thought it was appropriate here.
  2. That seemed to be a problem with Vanguard as well. Once people start believing the game has no future it's like a death sentence for a MMO. I would be really tic'd off if I went all the way to 80 and could'nt get into that content. No server transfers available? You could follow the server forums & see which one has a healthy population.
  3. From what I can see there are at least 3 level 80 6 man instances and 5 level 80 24 man raids. You guys are telling me you've cleared all of that? Taken from here
  4. I've got the same thing going on... only AoC doesn't help either. My character's crafting is maxed for armorsmithing/gemcutting, I'm sitting on over 160 gold, and there are no lowbies to protect. What else is there? So last night I hopped on a UT2k4 server again and got accused of "admin hacking", since I spanked a player, and then they couldn't fire their weapon. That hit the spot. Did you guys run any instances? Did you reach the level cap? Is there no end-game raids? Generally MMO's just begin when the level cap is met, though I know Vanguard had no raids ready yet when I was playing. (that has since changed) But I thought AoC had some raids ready to go at launch.
  5. I've read on many occasions that MMO's are no walk in the park to create. I also heard WoW was terrible in the beggining, and Everquest too. I think it's the nature of the beast and I think MMO's are a gamble not only to play, but to make as well.
  6. We're on Baelgun, a PvE server. Ebil for PvP you might want to look at this totem for resto or this totem for dps.
  7. When I left WoW for Vanguard, I gave all my stuff away. I did'nt think I was going to come back. When I did I had nothing and that is a REAL pain in the butt. If you think there is ever a chance you might return don't give all your stuff away. It will be there for you when you come back. BTW I think Shep is right, Blizzard seems to have nailed the MMO genere done to a science. Other games may look & sound better, but they are lacking and people tend to lose interest eventually.
  8. Wow, this is dying pretty fast. If no one from your guild is signing on then why not look for a new guild? Or maybe this is just in time for an even more anticipated MMO, WaR? Mythic has anounced Sept 18 as the release date. Did you guys get started on any end game content? Did you all reach the level cap (80 i think) or get tired of the heavy grind in the later stages? Maybe MMO's are not your thing Mo, if thats the case I'm sure you must be looking forward to Fallout 3 due out late fall 08.
  9. Completely run its course. It was funny the first time? No one said anything about funny. Just that it had run it's course.
  10. I don't think that's anywhere near where Mo lives.
  11. Totally understand this position. So trust me, I will never have both in the same location again. period.
  12. This is mostly for the Canadians that surf these forums as I don't think Rogers operates in the U.S (I could be wrong tho) After 3 years of internet service from rogers I decided to return to sympatico (Bell) by buying a wireless card and hooking up with my sister. This would give me a savings of roughly $50.00 per month. As part of the deal with rogers when I signed up I was offered a "free" email address that would be powered by yahoo.ca the domain however would be rogers.com No less than 2 hours after terminating my internet connection my access to my email was severed. Funny how a "free" email address was suddenly cut off when I stopped paying. After several hours of heated debate, in which I did little to hide my impressions of rogers or their policies, the only outcome I got was that I purchase another months' internet to reaquire my email address, or find someone willing to transfer that email address to their account so I can access it. I don't know anyone else that uses Rogers, and I can see why now. Seeing as Rogers will not get another dime out me come hell or high water, neither of these options are applicable. After speaking to one superior and told this can not be done, I was given the name of another superior who is not present but will return my call regarding this situation later this week. Email addresses are free from a number of different domains, when I switched from hotmail to rogers email, I did so strictly because my hotmail account was getting too much spam. Had I known this was the stance rogers was going to take with their offer of "free" email service, I would have gone someplace else. So now you have fair warning, if you have a rogers.com email, you should ensure that it is not your primary email source if any at all.

    Yahoo! Plus

Funny that this should come up. Yesterday I decided to cancel my rogers internet and go back to sympatico. (Canadians reading this will recognize the IP's) It never dawned upon me that by doing this my @rogers.com email address might be in jepardy. Sure enough, I try to access my email last night, and find my access to my own email has been revoked. No warnings, nothing. Everything I had in there, all my receits, kept emails, and address are in there. I am going to try to get access today to get all my info transfered to another email. I am totally appalled by this to say the least. I know I should have been a little more intuitive about this, but no warning, & no access to retrieve personal information is just vindictiveness. If any Canadaians are reading this and have a @rogers.com email address, I recommend you change to something else at your earliest convienience. So, I'm guesssing most people use gmail? (thats google right?) I had a hotmail address, I'm thinking of going back to that.
  14. I did the free trial for that game about a year ago, but just could'nt get into it. Graphics were nice tho
  15. Yeah, I read it was terrible too, in PC gamer. Though they gave Sins of a Solar Empire an incredibly good review, despite the fact the game was a complete rip off of Homeworld and had no single player storyline. I WISH it was a complete rip-off of Homeworld. Homeworld doesn't work on Vista and is so much better than Sins of a Solar Empire. The style of some of the ships & what they say in response to your commands are word for word exactly the same as in homeworld. (the TEC faction anyway) I could not believe it when I played it. Several letters were sent in to PC Gamer from people venting their frustration with the review, but they defended themselves as if those people did'nt know what they were talking about. I stopped buying the magazine, guess I'll get my info online now. Know any good sites?

  17. Maybe pick up a harvesting profession? Timber, herbs, metals, stone, everyone needs these things all the time in MMO's. The people who make all the money in these games take some kind of harvseting profession and dominate the auction house by cornering a certain market, or just by sheer quantitity.

    Distraught

I just saw this thread now, this was all over the news!! I'm really sorry for your loss Mo, hang in there!! God bless.
  19. Curse gaming can be a very helpful site that is secure for D/L add on's. AoC add on's at curse gaming It's also a handy site for info of all sorts for the game itself.
  20. As you progress with games like these you will find the game, friends, or just explorer's curiosity steering you towards areas such as caves, abandoned mansions/castles, or ruined towns. Some of these you might be able to wander into alone, unhindered. Others will require a group to explore. Some of these are classified as, "instanced areas" An instanced area is seperated from everyone else on the server so that you and your group are alone in the area, and no one else can join you. Usually the mobs in these areas are significantly more powerful, taking teamwork and coordination to master. These areas are generally the highlight of a MMO, making for some truly fantastic gaming. From Wowwikki; The first instances you will face will probably require 5 people, though I did several solo instances in LOTRO before I hit my first group instance. As you progress, however, the instances will require more and more people. 10 man+ instances are reffered to as "raids" There are usually several of these after you have reached the level cap, 80 in AoC, and are designed to keep people in the game IMO. These level cap raids are often classified as "end game" content, though it will take much longer to master these then it did for you to reach the level cap. The games very best in content are located in these raids, everything from the storyline, right up to the musical score and visuals will be everything the game has to offer. When you start playing a MMO, the game only begins when you reach the level cap. Hope you enjoyed my book Mo!
  21. Ok, here's what I found for you guys; AoC dungeons list There is a seperate list for instances, so I am thinking that these are free for all dungeons, where the first group to tag a boss gets him. The rest have to wait for a respawn. I read somewhere that AoC used the instance method of group events, but maybe they use both. *edit* confirmed both styles of dungeons are used; AoC dungeon explanation After extensive searching on AoC wikki, I have found there is not much information available at the moment. I realize it's a new game but there is some info there, but it's broken up and kind of useless. A simple name of the instance/dungeon accompanied with it's level would suffice, the contributions are lacking at this time I guess. The clearest one is The black castle, for levels 31-32. With all the info available for this one, and it's level, I'm going to venture the thought that this is the first instance, though maybe not the first open dungeon.
  22. I have noticed that all you guys have taken DPS classes. There will probably be a high demand for tanks and healers as you level higher and start to get into some instances. This will be especially true in endgame content, where these classes are essential. What level is the first instance? has anyone been in any yet?
  23. I got into Shep's uber guild & started doing some serious end game raiding in WoW. Also I started to level another alt that I'm trying to get to 70. I still plan on trying AoC, just not for a little while. I'm not keen on paying 2 monthly charges, and I really don't want to give up what I have in WoW. we'll see, maybe once I get this new toon to 70 in a couple of weeks, (at 50 now) I'll spend the extra dough to play the two games, but if I try it now I'll never get that alt to 70.
  24. LOL! 2 years from now you'll be sitting at the Conan loading screen wondering where all the time went! Pfft...as if you exist. *sigh* Mo when are you just going to admit you miss me, and deal with all these emotions pent up inside of you?
