Do we just send in what we think the server is worth to us? Or should we be looking at a specific figure?

I'd support it for sure, this is the first game that I think has me properly hooked in a few years. TF2 is fun, but doesn't have the same "oh, why is it now 3am" effect.

I think the scoped weapons are pretty well balanced in general (i.e. you don't get the same 1 shot kill 95% of the time that you do in CS), however, I am a bit confused that hitting someone in the chest with a .50 Caliber Barratt doesn't do more than just knock the wind out of them, I find the R700 to be the most effective scoped weapon..... As Voodoo says above, the Acog scope is however, terrible. I do have an issue with Shipment as a TDM map, if you get as we had last night 2 guys on 1 team who are doing well (myself and I can't remember the other player), it can be a whitewash quickly, it's so small that if 2 people get airstrikes then air support, it becomes so 1 sided it's not fun (even though I did get 3 challenges completed). It does work well for S&D though. Primus, btw, I love your server, thank you.

I did play it once a couple of months ago when I was invited on Facebook and think I actually scored within about 5K of my score this time around. As far as I recall, one of my work colleagues (who has travelled pretty much everywhere, scored in the high 500s...... when I saw his score I decided not to continue playing on Facebook).

Wish I didn't have business meetings all this week, I'm getting withdrawal having not played for a couple of days, however I'm off to Vegas tomorrow for a long weekend, and have no need to get up at 6, guess I'll try to play a couple of hours tonight.

Are most folks on this thread using x-fire when playing? I'd like to hook up with some other GC in game. Haven't been on vent to be honest, no idea if we have a COD channel in there (I haven't actually re-installed vent since my new build 5 months ago).

I for one can see myself playing this most weekends (weekday evenings when I get the rare chance), I love both Headquarters and S&D, team deathmatch on some of the larger servers is just chaos. Do we have a lot of people playing this? It's looking to be pretty popular, but looking up through here there look to be only 5-6 people posting regularly about it.

Well COD4 arrived at my house on Friday, over the weekend I played nothing but COD4 and I think it's safe to say I've found a new way to waste hours of my life.... This may change when Assassin's Creed arrives, but for now, I have definitely found something that'll give me a much needed break from CSS.

I did look at joining the server at one point last night and you'd apparently been in there for nearly 3 hours.

Haven't hopped on multiplayer yet, around an hour of single player and I'm glad to say it's certainly lived up to the hype, superb game.

I hope I ordered this early enough yesterday that it will arrive by the time I get home and not on Monday

Cod 4 is on steam here at 49.95, the same as the Orange Box, Bioshock is at 49.95 and painkiller at the same as you're seeing it.

Having played the demo I'm waiting for the full release to be reviewed before I commit to buying it (yes I may be joining the UT folks). But, on the other side if it doesn't work out, I used to love the COD games and if the new multiplayer is as quick paced and fun as the older games I may well be playing that instead. edit: as a CSS player UT3 has no impact on my remaining as a paying GC member, but wanted to throw out a possible alternative that I always found fast paced and fun. edit 2: oh and the Crysis multiplayer is pretty good as well, even in beta stages, it's a quantum leap from FarCry which just MP tacked on.

Well, my original scores were: CPU= 30.51 GPU= 32.75 at 1680x1050 with everything on high, I don't have the exact numbers in front of me and I did only run 1 pass on both the GPU and CPU benchmarks last night, but they came in around: CPU 32ish GPU 35ish I didn't run the tests with everything on medium and I did notice the "multiple display" post after I'd run it, I'll probably run them again this evening, let them run all the way through and make sure it's set at 1 monitor.

I just applied the new drivers and scored within 5fps of my previous scores for both GPU and CPU......

I'm not technically sound enough to add much input on that front, but a couple of obvious things jumped out at me. This 100K budget, is that a 1 off purely for the install or does it have to cover a 1 year support contract with yourselves, if so do you need to put together an SLA to cover potentially different severity issues, and what would you anticipate to be the cost of providing that support? Is the 100K purely for hardware and are the "delivery"/consulting manpower hours billed separately, or do they need to be incorporated to be within that 100K? What specialist skills will you need to subcontract out to do this install and what are their hourly rates to do this installation, will you be able to negotiate support contracts with them if need be? Maybe I'm going a bit too deep, but unsure if this is a project for a business portion of your course or for IT? From your above breakdown, are you making the assumption that all 25 currently have laptops/pcs? If not do you have to incorporate that in your cost, what about monitors, not many people like to sit all day using just a laptop screen. edit: would you need to do backups on site, or could you farm that out to another provider so all storage is remote?

If you did a default install head to: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Bin32 There are two batch files in there 1 CPU benchmark 1 GPU.

I'm going to assume the bin folder benchmarks run with the same settings as the game so: 1680x1050 all on high E6700 (stock) 8800 GTX + 4 GB DDR (obviously xp limits me to 3 just getting ready to get Vista before this hits store shelves) CPU= 30.51 GPU= 32.75 edit: 1680x1050 all on medium CPU= 51.34 GPU= 56.77 I see that it did default to what I had the game running on.
