    Home Brew

I've thought about it when I had the time, but not the money. Now it's the other way around and I just want to drink it. What kind of supplies are you talking about? A kettle, cheese cloth and a 5 gallon bucket?
  2. AAAHhh!!! I was at work when they attempted to deliver the screen today. The black bar thing complaint on a 16:10 screen is just silly, cause when I watch slightly dated material on my WS TV, there are black bars on the side. I think 16:10 1920x1200 is a good trade off between 4:3 and 16:9. That and I'm used to 1200, going smaller would be a downgrade.
  3. I went ahead and bit the Dell U2410, buy.com had them for $525 after a $10 off code plus no tax and free shipping. Ultimately I can't handle viewing angles of TN panels, hopefully this will be worth the extra moola. I may have to keep my CRT just a wee bit longer till UT 2004 is COMPLETELY DEAD.
  4. So I've gotten a bunch of overtime the past month (60+ hrs a week) so I figured I might treat myself to a new monitor. Not that I don't like my superior CRT, mind you. I just need to get a 16:10 monitor before they all vanish. I'm thinking 24"+ minimum 1920x1200, not one of those squinty 1920x1080 monitors, I'm hooking it up to my computer and not in the living room. And after looking around a bit on the net, looks like I'm just about all too late. I'm a LCD hater, I moan about viewing angles, grip about blur, and if I don't get a monitor quick I'll be bashing my new monitor cause the quarter top off my screen is missing with these 1080p contraptions. I was thinking about getting 3 cheapish LCDs and running a Eyefinity system, but the viewing angles thing really bugs me when not playing games. Or maybe a midgrade large monitor like this ASUS VW266H, good price but still, the viewing angles. Lastly is a Dell UltraSharp U2410, but costly and I'm worried about speed. And the Dell name in itself annoys me. I did though just notice that the U2410 just dropped $80 today, anyone have any coupons to sweeten the deal? I'd Like a IPS monitor, but they seem to be rated on the slow side for gaming. Any suggestions? Good deals?
  5. Don't forget to put the AR in the header please. Good deal till I saw that. Rebates make me go limp.
  6. Yeah the Celeron 300A was an awesome buy, easily clocked to 450. I bought mine for $80-$90, a fraction of what Intel's flagship Pentium II 450 was going for and performed almost on par.
  7. 1) I've switched back to a CRT a couple years ago when I bought a 22" LCD but couldn't handle the motion blur. 2) Recently made a new HTPC using my 3-4 year old 50" Panny 720p plasma, and really don't notice much motion blur at all. Very tolerable, unlike LCDs. 3) Is it because of faster pixel response or the "supposedly" 600mhz refresh rate of plasmas?
  8. So are theses the chips you ran back in the day? I still have my old P166mmx, Celeron 300A, Celeron 533A, Athlon 1600+ (which my still runs 27/7 btw), Athlon XP-M 1800+. I ran those chips in that order, after that I sold the Athlon 64 and the Athlon x2 I had ran. Then I had a E2160 and now a E5200, haha didnt plan on doing my CPU history.
  9. Hmmmm so long ago. Oh yeah, leftover pork fajita burrito from last night. MMMmmmm with green salsa poured over. My local Mexican restaurant makes killer green salsa. I've ordered the same thing there for the past 3-4 years. That's like 117 pork fajita burritos in a row.
  10. Throw a dollar amount out there. Are you an overclocker? I'm perfectly happy with my 3 yr old $80 Abit motherboard and with a $40 Intel E5200 clocked up to 3.9ghz. If it was me, upgrading a computer today, I would shoot for a Quad. Prolly the Intel i5 750 for $200. And maybe a mobo that could be upgraded to a i7 later with like this Asus.
  11. Yeah the only game PC game I have paid full price for in the past few years was Fallout 3. But it was totally worth it, and I even pre-ordered the Collector's edition.
  12. Yeah funny pricing on the C2Ds. I was going to get a E8400 a couple years ago right when they were released, and at a price of $169. The price never went down more then a few bucks the whole time. Newegg has them right now for $168 I'm enjoying my $40 E5200 Black Friday special, running happily at 3.9Ghz.
  13. Yeah, I only finish about 1 out of every 10 games I try. I think they call it jaded, but I've been like this for the last 10 years.
  14. Stinking 60 bucks for Starcraft 2, who else besides me won't be picking up Starcraft 2 when it releases? Maybe I'm just getting old, but I haven't played a compelling RTS in YEARS. I'm talking Red Alert 2 was the last time I have fun with a RTS. I'm not picking sides, while I liked RA2 and thought WC3 stank, I didn't care for RA3. Or even Age of Empires 3 for that matter. RTS have just turned me off... What I want? Dungeon Keeper 3. Or maybe Startopia 2. Yeah.
  15. I thought it [single player] was fun for about 10 hrs, then I just lost interest. I think this is the same reason why they are still working on Diblo III. Luckily I only paid $2.50 for Torchlight off of Steam during the Holidays. Diablo III will prolly run you $60 you think?
  16. Is the single player any good? I don't care about co-op. What I do like is Fallout 3.
  17. Do a little research, the i5 750 is newer tech and performs ever so slightly better then the i7 920. If you wanna really throw your money away... Take the extra money you save and invest it in a better video card, that makes the biggest difference in games and today's video cards can help process video data given the right application.
  18. I would buy a $200 Core i5-750 over a C2Quad. I would get a the i5 over a i7 too, but I'm a cheapskate overclocker.
  19. Nice place Unclean. But something about the place is a little unsettling. The inside looks like a house in a nuke test zone.
  20. Congrats SN! Well done Unclean, we looked about a year before we found the right one. I'm picky though, takes me about 3 hours and 8 stores to find a pair of shoes I like.
  21. we, make, holes in teeth

  22. Wonder what would cause people to have problems with certain web browsers. Old installs? I dunno. I have no issues with Firefox.
  23. I have a disk but no valid key, can you hook a brother up?
