  1. Fixed. You are already a global moderator nub.

Not sure; you know those are the names for left/right on the number pad right? Is numlock on?
  6. So I was just talking to DNA about server lag, and it occurred to me that that's only really valid if your rates are set correctly. If you look at your net_graph, on the "in" line, k/s tells you how much data the server is sending you. It looks to me like this number can only go to about 4 k/s per 10000 rate ("rate" in console) without losing some updates. In a full 24-player server, with cl_updaterate at 66, this number will frequently be touching 20 k/s (or higher, depending on the map). This means that if you want to receive all the updates from the server, you need to set your rate to at least 50000. This is contrary to the typical numbers of 25000 or 30000. If you look at the last number on the "in" line, that is the number of updates per second you're receiving from the server. This can drop for a few reasons, commonly: (1) the server is not sending you all the updates, because it is respecting your rate setting, (2) packets are getting lost somewhere between you and the server, (3) the server is not able to maintain its tickrate. If your rate is set to a typical 30000, a drop in the number of updates you're receiving is only likely to indicate a server problem if your k/s in is staying at or below 12 k/s.
  7. Apparently a router failure at InterNAP disconnected all the servers for about 15 minutes.
  8. No idea, but it's back up already.
  9. "making fun of 9/11, etc." One of the odder ban requests, but, done, on the basis of the other stuff.
  10. Network maintenance was planned for 10am edt today. Not sure if that's what this issue is or not; that was supposed to be about 5 minutes downtime. It looks like there are people connected now for over an hour, so unless there is some exaggeration going on above whatever the problem was must've gone away.
  11. Plugins can hide slots, but the downside is that I believe clients who want to join into the hidden slots need to join from HLSW, otherwise their client will read the server as full and will not try to join. This may have changed. I expect there are several word filters out there right now. It might be worth looking at what there is right now to see if there's anything that's just right, or if there's nothing that works quite right, to see what exactly would be needed to make a perfect one. This is one that I bookmarked at some point recently linked from someone somewhere. I haven't looked hard for it, but an Orangebox-working version of LDuke's Chron (or the same functionality) would be at the top of my wish list and probably some others'. Of course writing a SMM plugin rather than SM is an entirely different undertaking, and presumably there is already something like this in SM.
  12. Wow I didn't realize it was still down. No big, if they don't go down again, they'll still be at almost 1 1/4 nines for the year.
  13. I have not seen anything appear at dues@ other than from Chazter.
  14. Contact myself, san, Flitter, or Ebil if you want to get an address at gamerscoalition.com set up. Please specify the username you want.
  15. I snagged if off the banana last week, seems pretty meh.
  16. If you don't want to play on our server(s), you shouldn't; it's a game, and you should do what you want. I hope that we always run a server in a way that people who want to play a certain game will want to play on that server, but even if we're doing that successfully, people will have different ideas of how a game should be played. I would say that if your opinion of the server has changed this much in two days, I'm glad that you didn't decide to join, and hope that you'll take the time to get to know this server (or any other) and the players on it before you make a decision to put down money to support it. As someone who doesn't play L4D2, I can't say that the teams should or shouldn't be scrambled under certain circumstances. The few times that I've played the game, the scoring has been (for me) harder to figure out than a wrestling match. As far as I'm aware, there is not currently a policy on when teams should or should not be scrambled or adjusted, although the L4D2 admins may already have an understanding amongst themselves. I've raised the question in the admin forums, but I can't tell you what the decision is going to be, or even if there will be a decision. Either way, it's still going to be a judgement call most of the time.
  17. So wait, is this a week-long advertisement for freecreditreport.com?
  18. Banned Dubstep. FYI clan tags are not useful since they don't show up in logs.

IIRC it works pretty much like a screensaver.
  20. No, you still need to send someone your Steam ID.
  21. I see four servers running 20/20 on 2.0.6.5 so there is a good chance that things will mostly work.
  22. When you complain about the server not working, then sign off Steam 12 minutes later, it does put me in somewhat of a tough spot.
