  2. Please help us raise some dollars before Saturday Feb 28, 2009. JA brings volunteers from the community into K-12th grade classrooms to share their real world experiences with students and assist them to make the connection between education and future success. JA's goal is to reach over 45,000 students throughout Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, and Lorain counties in the 2008-2009 school year. [Press the Donate Now Button] http://fundraising.jacleveland.org/site/TR...&fr_id=1130 Or paypal me (servers_aint_free@dirtylittlemonkeys.com) and I'll be sure to include it in our team envelope. Thanks!

  5. so what was attempted? were you able to confirm your router was being reset via flag 43 (and thus the delay) as documented by m$? combofix?
  6. anyone ever use winkey from copernic why should one be required to click when a key combo press achieves the same results
  7. bought the day it was released 4gsurf 701 love it - keyboard is small - screen is small - replaced 512mb with 2gb ram 1st off as well as added a 16gb sdhc coupled with ev-do usb dongle (sprint/sierra wireless 140kb/sec unlimited data only), it does exactly what i intended it for - remoting in to my systems via vnc or ssh as well as 'normal' vpn useage it just happens to play video/mp3's/GPS and a bunch of other things i didnt intend on using it for - currently installed OS is mandriva w/o hacks - ive probably loaded/tested 10 *nix os's but never xp via nlite between ubuntu and mandriva i havent strayed far in the past 4 months - ghosting (www.sysresccd.org) a 4gb hdd to a 16GB stick makes things simple as pie (10min backup 5 min restore) if you want to test something out I usually put a live cd onto a different usb stick (not too difficult once you get the hang of it) and install from there as there is no built in cd/dvd - or just use an external usb cd/dvd rom
  8. http://www.ditii.com/2008/06/21/windows-xp...-dhcp-settings/ update firmware on your router? can you confirm if the router is actually being 'crashed' due to flag 43? you may have some leftover spyware try combofix from safe mode http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe when saving, rename to combo-fix.exe and execute maybe even: start/run/cmd (enter) Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog Reboot the machine.
  9. start/run/type eventvwr.msc (enter) anything strange under there?
  10. if we all had the same hardware (as apple products essentially do)...none the less - to each his own can't say I've actually had any trouble hardware-wise on any os (dos/os2/win3.x/nt/xp/linux/bsd/sco) since around 1992 - havent touched vista or sp3 the last time hardware was difficult to setup was when you actually had to set dip switches on isa modems to use non standard ports/irq's - and even that was a joke back then cant say i love winblows, but it plays my games -------------------------- use cr4pcleaner http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ - i'd seriously bet theres tons of unneeded registry keys slowing your startup - and the defragger also attempt to use autoruns from the former sysinternals sellouts to disable one by one (or at least see what's autostarting). reply back after cr4pcleaner
  11. 1,000,000 monkeys? It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
  12. so essentially replace Ford with $7000? i c...

  14. picture is not mine - its the internet's - mine is the blacked out standard. I'll make pix of mine soon enough. Although I've been playing the same clubs literally since age 16, - 2,5,7,9,pw, taylor made 9.5 stiff shaft, putter is all I've ever needed to pull 38 - 42. so what you are saying is i shoulda got the cts-v with the vette enjine - i hear ya but you'd prolly make fun of my 1970 1/2 ford also :-( so far, fun driving it :-) AND I DONT DRIVE FOREIGN ( or i woulda got a 350z like gOOt did when it came out ) dr00lz
  15. All but the nav ( got an eeePC for that )
  16. nuke the MBR - trust me its a grub/lilo/linux thing dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=512 count=1 hda may be sda depends pata or sata use systemrescuecd http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page if you want to use a dos/freedos based solution fdisk /MBR http://www.bootdisk.com/
  17. correct no good - need rj11 -> rj45 Never tried this myself and if you mean fits, yes it's smaller and thus you are able to insert it into the larger rj45...but i highly doubt it pins out or even cares about the analog signals running over them Seems and is are two different birds. What's wrong with the netopia - I used one back in the SDSL days. what type of vpn? pptp or ipsec - both? Are only trying to achieve one appliance or do you want steak and eggs too? For 10+ years when using dsl, there's always been an ISP provided box in 1/2 bridged mode in front of my firewall to handle POTS (rj11) -> ethernet (rj45). One extra wall wart but whatever. One could connect with the ISP box and handoff to the firewall or you can have the firewall do the pppoe exchange. Mine is the latter. Find a dell gx280 or gx150 small form factor (anything > p2-450MHz), throw in an extra NIC, load up [below] to handle your Wireless, VPN, and printing (via cups) needs. 10-20gb hdd 256-512MB ram and good to go. Clarkconnect has printservices out of the box, the others may need a little hacking - all have an excellent base of hackers that have done this for you, so don't worry. I won't rant on the opinions that a firewall should just be a firewall and not do printservices or much else for that matter. It's your choice. You could even load up xen on centos and run VMs of these apps to have an all in one physical box and including your trixbox/asterisk. http://www.pfsense.org http://www.endian.com/en/community/ http://www.smoothwall.org http://www.clarkconnect.com/community/ eeek just clicked link for $550 thats 400-500 more than you need for this project printservers: ps101(centronics) or ps121(usb) depending on printer(s) both go straight to the switch via rj45 http://www.netgear.com/Products/PrintServe...vers/PS101.aspx http://www.netgear.com/Products/PrintServe...vers/PS121.aspx
